I've tried several coffees in the past year. This ITALIAN Dark Roast Whole bean – 5 LB is perhaps not the *best* coffee, but it ranks very highly. The price makes it even better. At $.52/ounce, it blows away other coffees that I might like better. I'm not finished experimenting, not by a long shot, but this is very good coffee that I'm willing to serve to family and guests. I like the 5 pound bag. I grind about twice a week, about 1/2 pound at a time. The remainder gets resealed, and put inside of an airtight plastic canister. It stays fresh right up until the last batch of grinding. What does it taste like? Well, it has that sorta chocolatey taste that people talk about. There are flavors that linger on the upper pallete and at the back of the tongue. It's just a nice, full bodied, satisfying taste (and aroma) that competes with many other, much more expensive brands of coffee. Some reviewers have commented on the oily beans. Yes, these are somewhat oily. Those oils contain the aromatics that give coffees their distinctive flavors. It seems to me that those oily beans are a requirement for good, dark roast coffees. I'm giving this coffee 5 stars.

I tried this coffee because I wanted something different. I am from Louisiana where most coffee is strong but bitter. I have been drinking Starbucks coffee for years. I take my coffee seriously. I grind my own beans and I use a ninja coffee maker because it heats coffee to the perfect temperature so that you get full flavor. However, I was just tired of it and looking for something different. I came across the ad for this coffee and saw that they roasted their own beans in the store weekly. I decided to give it a try, and I loved it! The problem is that now I don't want anything else. I ran out of 3 lb in less than 2 weeks! Now I'm sitting here waiting for my next subscribe and save which is due on Saturday thinking I'm going to have to up my subscription because I am addicted to this coffee from Brooklyn! It is strong but smooth and I don't have to put half of the amount of creamer in it because it just tastes that good. Who would have thought that a girl from Louisiana would find her perfect coffee in Brooklyn! Thank you for ruining all other coffee for me lol

Good quality rich flavor. Have been buying this brand for years, however now am buying from another sorce This is because of the latest of many price increases over the years have finally made them no longer competitive with other quality brands.

This is great coffee! Wonderful aroma and flavor . I am somewhat of a coffee snob and I was truly impressed. I will be definitely buying this coffee again!

Coffee is smooth it’s dark like I requested we use beads so we do grind them. The quality was excellent.

We drink A LOT of coffee in our household but we are also picky about our coffee. We had been using the Don Pablo House Blend but when the price went up significantly we went looking for a good alternative. First, they are not kidding when they said this is a STRONG blend. For our 10 cup coffee pot we have cut back the amount of coffee we use to what would be portioned for an 8 cup coffee pot. This gives the full bodied flavor without the bitterness. It has a traditional coffee flavor with just a hint of a chocolaty after-note. It also stays well in the pot without getting bitter. I would say it may actually even taste better after sitting in the pot for a while (if that's possible). We also made espresso with this blend. When used as espresso there is a very slight bitter aftertaste. I makes a beautiful dark tan crema which for straight shot lovers is a must. Overall, we found this to be a full-bodied flavored coffee. It is strong so as others have said, you may need to experiment with the amount you use in your pot. We use a commercial bun so it does brew more like a restaurant in our home - other drip pots may need more adjustment than ours. The price is excellent because we only have to use 4/5 as much per pot as we were with other brands. We buy at least 5 lbs of coffee per month - sometimes 10 lbs depending on who is home - so as a result this coffee ends up being a great buy. We highly recommend this coffee.

TOP Choice for the morning or afternoon. I am a coffee fanatic. This is high quality coffee.
