Can thi gear oil be used on a Ford 150 5.4

Yes it can. The thicker the oil the bigger the molecule that keeps the metals from actually touching so if the tolerance is tight then the oil will get carbonized faster meaning you will want to use a lower viscosity oil next time. But lower viscosity means lower protection in the case of most general purpose gear boxes. Simply put if your vehicle is older then it has worn in and has loose tolerance so the higher viscosity oil is fine. If it’s new use manufacturer recommended. If you’re not sure then use manufacturer recommended because you can’t go wrong with that.

Will this work for gear oil in my troy bolt horse tiller?

This is one of the best multi viscosity gear oil's. It should work fine in your tiller in hot or cold temperatures. Do not use as engine oil, only gear oil.
