Excellent Product
This is a very high quality electric skillet. Heat distribution is even and very easy to control with a wide range of settings. You can use it for virtually any cooking technique, from the most delicate sauces to searing steak. You can even bake in it. It heats up quickly. I love that you can fry or pan-sear in it and not have a mess on your kitchen stove. I also like that it's portable and I can use it outside if I want to avoid cooking odors in the house. It works equally well for large or small quantities of food. It's easy to clean and very durable. It is fairly heavy. You can carry it around easily but if I'm transferring liquid contents from it to another container, I usually use a ladle due to the skillet's size and weight. This is a small trade-off though, given that this appliance far out-performs less expensive ones.

Great product! Very well constructed! The nonstick surface requires very little oil and cleans easily with a sponge. The pan heats quickly and evenly. The tilt feature and pouring spout make it easy to remove excess fat. I made a lasagna with uncooked noodles using medium heat. It cooked deliciously in 35 minutes using less heat then the oven. The large capacity makes cooking up a meal for 5 easy and quick with enough for some leftovers. Can't wait to try the roasting feature!

The manual is a little vague but the skillet is great. I've found that the skillet is very well built, easy to clean and keeps a fairly tight temperature control. There is a learning curve because the settings are in numbers not temperatures. I tried to call customer service and they have a call back system so that you're not left waiting on hold. I used that option but didn't get a call back;but perhaps that was something out of their control. I did not try a second time.

Shocking quality, I am questioning if this is genuine Breville
The quality of this product is shocking. I am questioning whether this is a genuine Breville product. I had one of these electric skillets for years and it was my go to item in my kitchen. This skillets quality has been questionable from the beginning but I carried on. The base of the skillet inside is rusting and this is not the quality I know Breville products to be. The Breville handle is falling off - it is an inferior product.

Extreme on/off cycle for heating element. Beware
It looks great and the non-stick surface is great. Overall I like the skillet with one major drawback. The heat is inconsistent. The entire surface heats and heats quickly which is great. The problem is that rather than simply maintain the temperature that you set, once the desire temp is reach it shuts off and cools down a bit, then cycles back on and reheats. The heating element is either on, while heating, or off after it's reached temp and until it cools to a temp that's cool enough for the unit to turn back on. Frying bacon for instance, heats beautifully, fries beautifully then the heat shuts off as it cycles - bacon literally STOPS frying and it's just sitting there in it's own grease until the unit cycles back on again. Forget anything cooked in a liquid that you want a gentle simmer for. Great at heating everything up to a simmer or a boil. Then it cycles off and everything stops. When it cycles back on the until reheats at full power so even when you only want a simmer the skillet will come to a full boil before it cycles off again. Imagine what this does to something like dumplings? They're destroyed in a full boil even though the until is set to a low enough temperature that should only simmer slowly. Same scenario with fried chicken - frying hard, cycles off, everything stops until it cycles on again and then frying hard again.I'm sorry I spent the money on this as it's impossibly to truly regulate your desired cooking heat without having extreme cycling on and off. I'd like to know what the temperature cycle is on this unit? At least 60-70 degrees in either direction from the setting on the dial? Given the price and brand name I expected a great piece of cooking hardware, not a kitchen decoration.

Comes in handy when you don't want to make a mess of your stovetop. The size is especially good when cooking for a big party.

easy clean up
Wow, heats quickly, easy clean up. Quality construction heavy metal and tempered glass. Worth the money. Love cooking in it. Great for all types of cooking and leftovers are so much better than in the microwave. Use it for searing and large enough to cook entire meal for 2.
