Maybelline 24 Hour Eyeshadow, Too Cool, 0.14 Ounce

I truly love this creme eye shadow. I did notice that it tends to dry out over time so if you don't use it fairly regularly it will become dry and impossible to put on properly. As far as wear goes, it lasts 6-8 hours with no smearing or smudging. It goes on smoothly but can be messy if your using your finger vs an applicator.

I've had some good experiences with drugstore brand makeup products lately so I thought I would give this a try. I had seen this product discussed on a blog somewhere, which is what drew my attention to it when I was browsing Amazon. I have the white one, called "Too Cool." My plan was to use this as a highlight shade on the brow bone and in the inner corner of the eye. First off, this does require a brush to go on with any kind of evenness, even though it is a cream shadow. Where I would typically swipe the brush through a powder once, I had to swipe the brush through this and apply probably three to four times for each eye. This really just wasn't showing up at all (I have super pale skin). Also, the application was a bit uneven. I did eventually get the coverage I wanted, but it took a long time. Also, this doesn't apply well. It kind of went on uneven and splotchy, with more shadow at the point where the brush first hit my skin. It was hard to smooth this out. And it didn't blend with another product I had on my lids (I was trying to blend in the crease of my eyelid to do a sort of fade from my green lid color to this). Now, perhaps this would've blended with another cream shadow better than what I was trying to blend it with, so I won't necessarily hold that against this product. I can't say whether this lasts 24 hours because I never leave my eye makeup on for 24 hours. I remove it every single evening. It did last well enough for the few hours I had it on (I have oily eyelids; I did not use a primer because this was on my brow bone, where I never use a primer). It was not terribly difficult to remove with a dual-phase makeup remover on a cotton pad (I happened to be using one from Marcelle, but the removers from Lancome and Clinique would surely work as well, based on my past experience with them). On the plus side, this was inexpensive so I don't feel that I'm out a lot of money. I may still try a few more things with it to see if I can make it more useful for me. I have sensitive eyes and this was not the least bit irritating, so there's that. As a cream, of course it can't have fallout. I am rather glad, though, that I did not buy this in a bunch of colors.

It has pretty good coverage (once I got the hang of using a makeup brush with the cream), and a beautiful shine. It is kind of sheer on its own, which can be good for a lighter look, and over a basic white eyeshadow pencil base, it really pops!

Product is a bit too dry. Makes it difficult to get product out. Smoothness would make it definitely a terrific product.
