It is a great book but I found it hard to get my students to buy a copy when the 2nd addition is available for ~20% of the price

even though this is one of the best book for geodynamics
even though this is one of the best book for geodynamics, but it is not easy to follow and dosnt help in explaining all the stuff inside.

Text to get people talking, not necessarily working right
In my experience people reference this book when they want to ignore the physical Earth outside the classroom, people talk about what ‘could be’ instead of what actually exists. It does a poor job linking petrology and geochemistry in to the dynamics of the Earth. Some of the information is inconsistent with scientific papers published prior to this book itself. The material and theories presented are highly subjective making it not a very reliable text.
