The last 2 times I've used the bags, they have broken open. Any tips how to prevent this?

I have the same issue with Zatarains because mine almost always bust open. I used to use OLD BAY, but evidently they no longer make them.

Does it contain any ingredient from any mammal (Cow, pork etc.)?

What is the bag made of?

It appears to be the same material as a tea bag./ Some sort of synthetic fibre that does not fall apart and does not impart any flavour of its own/

Recipe calls for liquid crab boil. Will this work?

Yes. We use it all the time for Dungeness crab, stone crab as well as tiger prawns, etc. 1 box is for 12 cups water. That’s great if you’re doing many large crab, but for 1-1.5 lb of shrimp we use 6 cups water and 3oz crab boil, ½ bag. We modify recipe on side of box by adding 1 bunch of fresh thyme + 1 tsp chili pepper flakes. There’s also a liquid form, but the dry never goes bad. Good luck
