Pioneer GM-D8601 Class D Mono Amplifier with Wired Bass Boost Remote

This amp stays cool even when pushed hard... I have this amp and a Rockford Fosgate P1 15" sub at 2 ohms in a 2018 Honda Fit Sport at the moment and it pounds. I just ordered another one of these amps for my other sub, a Pioneer Champion series 12“ to hit other notes the 15" lacks in producing. Hope it works out like I think it will. For the money, this amp is a great and sounds very clean. I'll be running this sub at 2 ohms also. This amp can run 1 ohm stable to get its full power but I'd rather run them at half throttle to get better efficiency but it's nice to know if I wanted I could run them at 1 ohm down the road. I'm very happy with it and say if your looking for a good quality amp for subs, give it a go🙂 Update: bought a second one for the 12" and it's perfect... They run so efficient that I'm still using a 8 gauge power wire through a splitter to both amps at 2ohms and they barely get warm and the power wire isnt hot at all. Very happy so far. Hope they last... Time will tell. UPDATE 6/15/2019 Both amps with same setup still running awesome and I pound them hard... So happy with it!

I will start by saying I gave this 5 stars because of the quality of the amplifier in respect to the cost of the amplifier. It was pleasantly surprising to see how well it is built. Had I paid $300 for this, I would not have been so pleased. Keep that in mind as you read. I was originally wary of buying this amplifier due to its cheap price and the lack of clarity in some of its reviews (saw a few 5 star reviews on other sites that noted potential issues and/or had a lack of information to back up the rating). However, I decided to go ahead with it anyways as it is CEA-2006 compliant and I was assured it would meet the specs it claimed to have. I have been running it at 1 ohm for about a month on a 12 inch RE Audio SE-X V2 750 watt rms subwoofer in a ported box tuned to 35 hertz. Even at 1 ohm it does not heat up and it does do the rated power of 800 watts (I clamp tested it to make sure). The amplifier itself is very attractive looking and very clean in appearance. My only complaint is that the writing on the sides to note positive/negative/etc is in a color that is very hard to see on the grey metal, but this is not a big deal. It has the typical features of a monoblock amp and performs exactly how it is supposed to. DO NOT expect a perfect amp that has all the features of a $400-$500 JL amp or anything like that, but do expect reliable, clean power for a very low price.

I bought amps that would overheat and stop working about 20 minutes in drive. So I bought this amp because of the reviews. I was looking for a amp that is powerful and doesn't overheat and turn off. This amp does just that and is half the size of my old one. I only need it for a set of 12" mtx. Not trying to be king of the street but people with L7 speakers are impressed. I bought this amp before and I bought it again because I liked the reliability. Hot California sun all day with tinted windows and this amp would always work. I would recommend it to everyone. two bad things are I would say it's hard to find and not a 4way or anything to power you're full ride. Only your sub box. I need something for my mtx terminator dual 12 ". I'm not trying to power door speakers with the sub. There's also a volume knob for the sub that I placed by my ac controls. That little gizmo is always fun to impress people when they get in my car. I turn it up for a good massage. So nice you'll want to but it twice, 5 star amp for the price. Bars to live by.

Hey everyone, Mike Jones here again with another quick and concise Amazon review. So up today we have the Pioneer GM-D8601 Class D Mono Amplifier with bass control knob. This item exceeded my expectations and fit my platform perfectly. I wired up a Rockford Fosgate T0 12" subwoofer in a custom box and this amplifier would, without question, blow the sub if I turned it all the way up. The bass knob is a great addition to this amplifier and has enough cord to run from the trunk, down the door panels, and up under my dash. My favorite part about this mono amplifier is how cool it runs, even under load, even in the middle of summer. I have it mounted to the subwoofer box and there is only minimal breathing room and yet, even after and hour of slap on my drive home in the summer time the amplifier is only nominally hot. No overheating issues at all. Just make sure you buy the right fuses necessary for your setup! The pros: Great cost point and super powerful. Mono amplifier runs cool compared to multichanneled amps. The cons: This is good for running only a single subwoofer at its current power level. The mounting brackets broke after a few months but its being knocked around from the subwoofer and the car so its not uncommon for that to happen. The overall: This amp easily powers a single subwoofer with more than enough juice to blow it. The sound is crisp and clear with little to no distortion. I WOULD buy this product again. Very Reliable, honestly impressed with this amp I've put a ton of hours over the years on this amp It has never even gone into protection mode/overheated This amp and sub combo is awesome, Accurate and Loud! Paired up with a Pioneer TS-A300D4 12 Inch Subwoofer (1500W max)

I'm a huge MTX fan and ran nothing but MTX for years. I bought this amp because the RMS matched my current project and pioneer post actual RMS ratings ( most amp companies will just post pseudo MAX watts). This amp at 1 ohm will not heat up. For once, my subs got hotter than my amp (no clipping, I know how to set the gains to match the head unit). The amp is small but it puts out what it advertises as RMS 800@ 1 ohm (1600 watts.... maybe if it was struck by lightning). This amp comes with a bass boost controller...Throw it out or better yet, throw it at your neighbors non-stop yapping dog. Do not use bass boost at all, this could/will cause clipping signal and that is no bueno. The sound this amp produces is sexy. Very clean, no strange noises (or I have a kick butt ground), and your not picking up truckers on their CB's lol. Currently I'm getting rid of the pioneer champions that were attached to this amp... This amp deserves premium subs, Infinity Kappa subs, and thats what I'll do :-D

I installed this amp and a 10" subwoofer myself (never done it before) and this amp made the process much easier thanks to having hi-level inputs that can be tapped directly from the speaker wires from the head unit. Using the hi-level inputs also doubles as the "remote turn on" wire so that was a great help for someone who is new to installing this kind of thing. It works perfectly fine and I'm very happy with the purchase. I only added this amp and sub to my sound system, the rest was factory equipment. After turning down the bass from all other speakers it improved the sound of all other speakers as well. Was pleasantly surprised.

This thing slams...connected properly and then using a digital multimeter it pushes exactly what its rated and then some! Using this mono block to power 2 pioneer tsw311d4 subs in a 3 cu ft ported box tuned to 33hz..customer has been breaking these in for a couple weeks..we went about 3/4 power today and his truck began to vibrate so much we are now looking at sound dampening this one..i know at full power we will get some windshield flex..but thats only the beginning..not only does this thing hit but its also super clean and the low pass filter seems to be on point. And being a class d its also extremely small for the power it puts out so you can put it almost anywhere..pioneer kills it with these new class d amps..arrived super quick..way ahead of time..seller was on top of it
