This bestselling book gives you practical, productive ways to discover who you are in Christ. When you realize the power of your true identity, you can shed the burdens of your past, stand against evil influences, and become the person Christ empowers you to be. Review: I would recommend this to EVERYONE! - I cannot speak more favorably about this book and other material from Freedom in Christ Ministries. Among Dr. Anderson's strengths is explaining things. This helped confirm some thoughts and provided significant helpful answers to others. He introduced me to Threshold Thinking. I've often wondered how to determine the amount of time to allow my mind (thoughts) to experience painful thoughts. They are so real. He brought up Threshold Thinking to address areas of temptation. For me that includes the temptation to 'camp out' in hurtful thinking that can lead to despair. Threshold Thinking is the moment the thought enters the mind. He used 1 Cor 10:13 "No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it." He advised that we "take the way of escape the moment our thoughts are contrary to the truth and righteousness." The way of escape is to rehearse God's truths from His word. Combining this concept with a message I heard on the shield of faith by John Macarthur where he reminds us that God teaches us: when you believe God, your shield is up. In the same way, as we choose to camp out on (think about- believe) God's truths rather than on hurts and even speculative thinking, the darkness cannot take any of the same space. I hope that makes sense. This book is rich with scripture and explanations. I cannot recommend it highly enough. Review: My life will never be the same! - Victory Over the Darkness: Realizing the Power of Your Identity in Christ I was lost and was ready to give up on life when I was pointed to this book. If it had not been for this book I don't think I would still be here. Learning who we are 'In Christ' is essential to living victorious. Too many of us are walking around not even know who we are. We walk around feeling guilty, condemned and like slaves to this life. We have believed lies that other people have spoken about us. We still believe that even though we have asked for forgiveness for our sins, that we somehow we still aren't worthy of forgiveness. We believe lies satan speaks to us. All lies! After reading this book, I learned who I am. Who God says I am. The Only One that matters is God...what He says...and He says so many good things about us!!! I'm so thankful for this book it's hard to put in words. I no longer struggle with addiction, other unhealthy habits, nor mental illness. I was healed through the teachings in this book and through the book after it, 'The Bondage Breaker'. I've bought countless 'Victory Over the Darkness' books and given them to friends. This book changed my life forever and I thank God everyday that I've learned what I have through Neil Anderson's teachings and Freedom in Christ Ministries. Read it and you'll never be the same! There truly is 'Victory Over the Darkness'!!!

Everyone needs to read this book!
This book changed my life. If you struggle with knowing who God is and your relationship with Him, then I highly recommend you read it ASAP. After the Bible of course, this is the most important thing I have ever read. My marriage was in shambles and I was in despair yet I was able to find joy even through one of the worst emotional times of my life. And to this day I can remind myself that no matter what, He cares about me. It is not a light easy read full of fluff and platitudes - it cuts to the heart of the matter. But it’s well worth it. You are worth it.

Healing of past wounds and experiencing future victory.
In Victory over the Darkness, Neil Anderson provides a guide for healing of past wounds and for experiencing future victory. In Victory over the Darkness Dr. Anderson doesn't suggest change through behavior modification or external rules and regulation. Instead he gets to the issue of living according to our identity in Christ. His sections on healing past wounds and how to continue on the journey of spiritual maturity were very good. I appreciate that this book on emotional health was based on theology and not psychology. I believe it is a good, practical tool for the pastor and for the Christian mental health professional. While the book was strong in emphasizing our new identity in Christ, I felt it was weak in exposing the depravity of self. I've found that until a person abandons all hope in the self-life they will have difficulty rejecting it for their new life in Christ. This book would be a good book to read in tandem with Christ-Esteem by Don Matzat. I see them as being an effective balance for each other.

Scripture rich treatise on the Christian's identity in Christ.
While going deep, this book is written at a level that is easy to understand. Neal T. Anderson interprets scripture in light of scripture and encourages the believer to know who they are in Christ, attributing much of our struggle with sin, unfruitfulness, and areas of bondage to a misplaced notion that we must strive for the things that God has already granted us through the cross and resurrection. He handles all discussion of the demonic from the place of the believer's authority as a child of God; this glorifies God and not the enemy, and need not be scary. This book challenged me to allow God to transform me by renewing my mind to the truth that I am fully accepted, secure, and have purpose in Christ. I also loved Neil T.'s take on discipleship counseling, and think it would be a boon to our churches-- sound doctrine personally applied to real lives, does it get any better?

Know who you are "In Christ"
Neil Anderson has provided the Christian community with a great resource that will help the believer realize their identity in Christ. There are two particular charts in this book that are of great help. The first is on page 51-52, it answers the question of who a person is once they are in Christ. The second chart is on page 64-65 and it describes who a person is, "since I am in Christ." One of the things that I liked was that Anderson expressed theology before practicality. This is nice to see since many people only want practicality, as if careful practice requires no thought to direct it, this is not the case in this book. There is one particular theological position that you should be aware of prior to reading the book. Anderson is rather emphatic about saying that the believer sins, but is not a sinner. He says that the believer should only refer to his or herself as a saint. A believer is declared righteous in Christ and receives the imputed righteousness of Christ at regeneration. However, positionally we still sin (which he does not deny) but never calling oneself a sinner is like saying that I steal, but I am not a thief. This is my one major quandary with the book. Outside of that, you can learn a great deal from this particular book.

Will Read Again and Again
So much. So needed to hear and pray through. Will be looking at some of Anderson’s related books to keep moving into and through the very deep truths and challenges raised in this book.

Free At Last
Even though this book has been on the market for a long time, I'm a new reader. How sorry I am that I didn't come across it sooner. Anderson brings the truth to light and shines it right into the reader's life. His writing style is easy to understand. His scholarship is evident. I love that he includes the bible verses in all of his comments--there for anyone to check and consider within context. Personally, the message of this book has set me free. I'm now free to see the truth about what Christ has done for me. My story is nowhere as dramatic as some of Anderson's illustrations, but nonetheless I have broken through the surface of the water and have gulped in a breath of fresh air. For anyone who has ever felt far from God, guilty, broken, condemned, fake, or a failure. You owe it to yourself and your Savior to understand the TRUTH and let it set you free.

I'm a big Neil Anderson fan, and I think this is a great foundational book for all Christians to read (new and old). He uses a ton of scripture to ground everything but not so much that it defeats reading the book. Easy read, but best to read over a few weeks to really let things set in. Doing the things he suggests is very important as well if you want it to be effective. Highly recommend for discipleship meetings.

Much more than just a good read
An amazing book showing tremendous insights into the Christian life and how we actually can live in victory here ,and grow in Christ as we were meant to. I wish I had read this book 30 years ago.there was so much in the book that God was speaking to me through that I took a marker pen to highlight so that I can go back and re-read and really take on board.because of the insights and truths in this book, shared so well by Dr Neil,I have already purchased other books in this series, all available on Amazon books. and am currently working through other books that link into this. The central issue is God,s truth which rightly applied as a heart response by us,leads to freedom from the slavery to the lies that we have believed. All of us at some time have had bad things spoken to us or over us even as children which we have carried around in our lives, and which has kept us in bondage, not being the complete person that we were meant to be. This book is firmly based all the way through in the Wisdom, truth and love of God,as revealed in the bible with all the relevant scriptures notations.Check it all out for yourself. As Dr Neil points out it is not a power encounter but a TRUTH Encounter, and us living in daily victory down here on planet earth. As you read you find yourself saying "I'M like that" and," sometimes I do that" or "think like that".He manages to look at a number of areas that are just very very helpful. As a Christian you want to grow and bear good fruit. That is why I read the book.and it certainly ticked a lot of boxes.

Biblisch, praktisch, lesenswert
Absolute Kaufempfehlung.
