This product is a life saver. The effectiveness was outstanding. My cat has a virus he has to live with for the rest of his life. This was his first flair up & I gave him this product after reading reviews. It got him cleared up & feeling much better quickly. I am so thankful for this product. He licked it off my finger. You can mix it in the food if you like. Great value for the money. I didn’t notice any odor. Digestibility was fine, no problems. It came with 3 tubes. Consistency is A+

i have a 5 year old female cat with herpes that has had a weepy eye in the past. we have never been able to get her to take l-lysine, but she rarely had flare ups. not sure why, but the last year has been much worse (no new cats or new living situation.. not sure what happened :/) and her eye has been weeping to the point where the inner corner gets very irritated and she loses her hair there :( the vet gave us an ointment to use on her eye for 10 days and recommended getting 500MG of l-lysine into her on a daily basis - SOMEHOW. she never ate the dried powder one on her food (she'd eat around it). she didn't like the taste of the gels or 'maple flavored' paste we got. and giving her a pill stresses her out something awful. so we decided to try this. at first i was severely unimpressed - the syringe is too large to actually administer it to her. i tried offering her some and she was not having it! so we squirted it into a smaller syringe, scruffed her, and just stuffed it in her mouth. which she hated. after three days of that, though, i got a little bit on my finger. i offered it to her, thinking she'd run away since we just forced her to eat this stuff that she doesn't like... and she ate it right off my finger!! she's gotten good at taking it once a day - she usually doesn't stand for that second 250MG dose, but we're working up to it. i will say that is seems super sticky - it looks like she's trying to eat peanut butter, the way she has to work to get it off the roof of her mouth. but at least now we're getting it in her! i haven't seen a huge difference with her symptoms yet, but we've only had her on this for about two weeks now. i am just AMAZED that she'll actually eat it! it's pricier than the less palatable gels, but if you have a really picky cat, this may be the only way to go!

This was recommended to me by a veterinarian. I had acquired 2 very sick kittens that had severe upper respiratory and eye infections. She suggested that I give the kittens L-lysine 500mg twice a day for if the infection was due to Herpes, this amino acid would interfere with virus reproduction and shorten the infection's duration and severity. It must have helped, for before I started giving the kittens this, they were lethargic and slept all of the time. After 2 days of getting this, they are awake more often and are energetic and playful, as kittens should be. I had given them this along with antibiotics, but they had been on antibiotics for a week with no progress. Once I introduced this to their diet, their health made a turn for the better...and rapidly! What a great product! The only thing I would suggest differently is the design of it. I love the tubing and how you can measure out the dispensing dosage, but the hole it comes out of at the end is huge! In order to give it to the kittens, I had to squirt it onto my finger and force a little bit at a time into their mouths. I do believe if the hole was smaller, I could insert it directly into the kittens mouth for dispensing. That would have been a lot easier than getting bitten several times in order to administer it (and twice a day on top of that!). I was unable to mix it into their food, because they weren't eating correctly (their noses were stuffy and they couldn't smell so they didn't want to eat and was having to force feed them for a few days.) I was afraid if I mixed it in with food, they would reject food completely. Overall, a great product that actually works and does what it's supposed to. I'd definitely use it again and suggest it to a friend.

I was getting something else for my cats for hips and joints, but they changed the formula causing my cats to reject it. I started my cat on this and a lot of her problems went away. She gets this twice a week and according to the vet she is much better. Now my other cat wants it and its helping her too.

One of my kitties had got really sick, so I got this to help with nutritional support. It's a big intimidating looking syringe but it's easy to work, there's a ring on it that unscrews that keeps you from pushing the plunger in too far. It makes it very easy to get a dose out. My sick boy wouldn't eat for a while, and he's still acting finicky, but he likes this a lot and he will lick it right off the syringe. It's to be given twice a day, either with food or directly as paste. Even after the first dose he started acting like he felt much better. It says to watch them for diarrhea but he's not had any side effects thus far. If he does, I'll update the review. So far his litter box activities have been 'normal.' He seems to like the taste a whole lot and acts like it is a treat. It couldn't be easier. It works better than the lysine treats that I've been using.

I'm a little bit torn on this product. There are things I definitely like about it, but also some things that I really don't care for. As background, I have five cats. One of them is a new(ish) kitten and he had eye herpes (several of my other cats already had this condition). The stress of having a new guy around was enough to cause flare-ups in some of my other cats. I have to deal with this in different ways, depending on the cat. I have two who will eat treats with lysine in them, and that is the easiest administration method. But one, I am pretty much stuck with either pills or paste. I've gone for the paste (i.e., this product here). What I like: *The cat seems to enjoy the flavor of this more than some competing products, so he doesn't fight me quite so much *It is easy to get the correct dose, and to get it out (this can be tricky, meanwhile, with squeeze tubes) What I don't like: *There simply aren't very many doses in this syringe; used twice a day, it's not even going to last me a week (I always need to treat much longer than a week to be sure the virus flare-up is under control) Anyway, if you are having a lot of trouble getting lysine into your cat, this could be an option. Just be prepared to buy a handful of these instead of just one. The Viralys gel that you are probably being recommended by Amazon on the product page for this paste has a lot more doses in the bottle (so it's an economical choice in the long run) but can be a pain to dispense since there is no mechanism for consistent dosing. If your cat will eat the Vetri-Lysine treats, that is probably the easiest option of all. Please note: this does include some flavors including dairy- and chicken-based ingredients, so if your cat has inflammatory bowel disease or a dietary intolerance, do not use this product.

For years, this has been the only lysine product that I can get into my cat. He has Feline Herpes Virus (respiratory), and lysine keeps him much more healthy. Even one missed dose impacts his health. I received the freshest batch to date via Subscribe and Save in August, from the seller “Pattern -iServe-“. The DOM (date of manufacture - many confuse this as being an expiration date) is 2/2022. The lot number is 22035. The first syringe - my cat either threw up after having his dose (twice daily), or he started struggling - he is normally very good about getting his medicine. He even started spitting it out, despite my best efforts! So, either he was throwing up repeatedly after a dose, or didn’t get much medicine because he spit it out. Either way, his viral symptoms became much worse without twice daily lysine. I had ordered three tubes, all with the same DOM/Lot #. I went to the next tube and the same thing happened. I thought maybe it was a behavioral issue, but after seeing him get so sick after a successful dosing, I began to suspect the delivery. I found an old syringe, DOM 2/2020, and tried giving him that. He swallowed it and did not get sick. I am not sure if this is a bad batch from the manufacturer, or if the items I received became spoiled in storage or transit. But I thought it was important to leave a review here in case others have the same Lot and their cats are getting sick. I saw a review from this past month where someone says it made their cats sick and killed their kitten. I can’t verify the legitimacy of that claim, but, given my experience, it is concerning. One final note: the product has changed over time from tan and more gritty to a more homogenous, dark brown, more oily goo. I have not found the change to gave any impact on the effectiveness of the product, and my cat did not have an issue when switching from one style to another. So, this has not been a problem for me, and is not what is going on now. Hope this is helpful! Be careful with your babies!

It is helping my kitty's eye discharge and nasal congestion. It's convenient to leave by a favorite chair since it is firmly capped, and squirt a little on your finger for kitty to lick up when kitty comes to visit. This makes it a remarkably easy cat med. Well, You might have to squirt some down her throat a few times, and then she'll be like, ACK ACK my throat already hurt and NOW THIS, you sadist, I think you've killed me ACK! But after a while kitty is like, I haven't forgotten what a puke you can be, but this is pretty tasty. I have not been using as much as recommended, she seems to do as well on a dab as she does larger amounts, but I do recommend doing it every day and not just on a need basis, because by the time the need is apparent, the cat is cranky, and not as interested in dealing with primates and the goop on their fingers. And then Kitty will say NOT NOW <bite> But most of the time it will be a nice bonding moment. It didn't completely cure my kitty's affliction, but within a couple weeks kitty was markedly less judgmental, the discharge was much less and her voice was more normal. It's not a substitute for a trip to the vet, and you might want to try a pet psychic, but it's good stuff. I have bought it more than once, and I will buy it many more times.

This works well just difficult for my cat to take - I mix it with a bit of soft food and have to hold his mouth open to get it into him - he does not vomit and does not seem to mind once we are done. The date on the tube is NOT a best before date, it is a DOM Date Of Manufacturing.

I have tried many different forms and bands of lysine, this is the most consistent and accurate one. My 16 years old exotic short hair cat has very poor immunity. After taking this, her appetite comes back, her running nose gets better. One of my cat hates it but she loves it very much.

Product is almost 1 year expired. Colour is supposed to be a light brown and it looks like dark chocolate brown. Tried to give it to my cat and she vomited because the paste is too thick and off. Perhaps the unexpired version would help because she seemed to like the smell/taste at first. Beware of the expiry date! Mine expired 01/2020 and the current date is 11/2020
