Best external enclosure I've used
I've used a variety of external drive enclosures over the years, mostly just for USB drives attached to a computer. I bought the Novus because the drive I installed in it will have to go on the road with me from time to time and I wanted the protection afforded by the silicon "sleeve". It's electronics and a drive so I will treat it accordingly. The protection is for the occasional bump it may get. First, it arrived precisely as predicted, well done Amazon. Packaging was easy to open and everything was individually wrapped. There are actually PRINTED instructions included, although they're hardly necessary. This is a very simple, but well designed enclosure. And everything fits like a well engineered and constructed product. As nearly as I can tell it is manufactured in the USA using materials from the USA. But I could not find that specifically stated even on their web site. My 8TB (purchased separately) 3.5" drive slid right in - at a slight angle to enable aligning and mating the SATA connector in the case. This was very easy. Everything fit, aligned and went together perfectly. There was a small zip lock bag containing 12 screws - 8 for mounting the drive - only 4 required. Two different types provided. And there were four black screws to secure the "sled" inside the case. It is also very nice they included a small MAGNETIZED screwdriver. This is good because they ensure users have the right SIZE and tip screwdriver and also because the tiny screws are...tiny. MUCH easier to install using the magnetized screwdriver than trying to start them by hand. I may not get out enough but I haven't seen a lot of thunderbolt connectors, although I would like to. And I don't have any. So it is great that they also provided a USB-c - to - USB-A cable for connection to my system. The one 'ding' I'll give them is the freakin' wall wart! I would very much have preferred a slightly larger enclosure with the wall wart electronics inside the case and a normal AC power cord. I thought about taking off a star in the rating for that but they're not the only ones guilty of using them! So suffice to say, it's an area that NEEDS improvement. Overall, an excellent and very well designed and manufactured product. I would buy another if I needed another external enclosure and highly recommend them to anyone who may need one.

Easy to Install, Worked Flawlessly for a Large Data Transfer
I just installed a Seagate IronWolf Pro 16TB drive in the Oyen Digital Novus USB-C enclosure, connected it to my PC through the USB-C to USB-C cable, and completed a 12 TB file copy to an internal drive on my PC. No hiccups, no disconnects, all 12 TB verify as successfully and accurately copied. I was worried by another review that said the unit came with a 12v/2A power adapter, which was insufficient for large enterprise hard drives. However my enclosure came with a 12v/3A power adapter, and ran flawlessly. It also came with two cables, a small magnetized screwdriver, all the screws I needed, and printed instructions. Installation was easy & straightforward. The product worked perfectly for me. The photo accompanying this review shows a screen shot of Windows 11 Task Manager during my copy of 12 TB from drive F: (in the enclosure) to my PC's internal drive T:, with drive T: highlighted, showing overall disk transfer rate.

Solid choice
Works well, although I haven't run any benchmarks on it. It'l seems pretty fast with mechanical HDDs. Easy to assemble, seems well-built and hasn't had any disconnects. I do wish it had a fan, but I've just been aiming a small AC Infinity fan at it.

Protects the hard drive.
Nice and solid enclosure. Very happy with its operation.

Solid build quality, but has to be manually reconnected upon PC restart, incredibly annoying!
I bought this external HDD enclosure for my Windows home server. I plugged it in, things worked fine, data read quite fast; with one fatal flaw. Every time my server restarted, be it a Windows update or power outage, I had to manually finagle with the enclosure by unplugging and replugging it until the drive showed back up in Disk Management. NOT a fun thing to do *every single time* the server restarts. I thought this was some sort of bug, until I read another 1-star review of this product that mentioned the same issue, apparently it is an intentional power-saving mode of this enclosure, which is mind-boggling to say the least. Everything aside from this, the enclosure worked fine. But I just cannot recommend this enclosure to anyone because of that one flaw. My recommendation, do not buy any kind of external hard drive enclosure, none of them are ever reliable since USB is just not designed for long-term data storage. Instead, rehome your server into a case that has internal SATA hookups for hard drives and use those; that's what I did and have had absolutely no issues since.

Solid well built drive
I have purchased 3 drives in the past 60 days, each one has been dropped from 1 foot and does not work after! I am shocked that with no external damage at all the devices will not work. Approx $260 each and worthless! This drive has a rubber liner around it that looks like it may be able to handle a short fall. I wonโt give it a chance though. I will mount it permanently so it can be knocked off my desk. It does seem a bit slower when transferring data, but Iโm in no hurry. I hope this will be the last drive I have to purchase and losing data on three drives really sucks. This drive should solve that problem.

Helped Quiet a Noisy Hard Drive!
I got a new X300 Toshiba 8GB hard drive. Put it in an Orico tool-free all-plastic case, and realized it was unreasonably noisy. It really rattled around inside that plastic. But it is for a raspberry Pi NAS that I'll stick in a closet or somewhere, so I don't have to hear it. Also I didn't feel particularly safe about this hard drive not crashing at some point in the simple plastic Orico case, which serves a purpose but has no real drop protection at all, not even rubber retainers inside. I ordered this Novus thing, which is the only rubberized 3.5 enclosure I could find. Anywhere. I'm really impressed with how it cuts down on the noise, which is a bonus I wasn't shooting for when I ordered the enclosure. I guess the fact it is anchored in with screws to a metal case which is enclosed in a thick silicone rubber shell is why the noise-causing vibrations are muffled. I also like that it has USB-C to USB-C for newer hardware and another USB cable for other setups like my raspberry pi. Peak transfer rates using a high quality USB-C cable to a Macbook were great. (See lower right quadrant of the Black Magic Disk Speed test). I shall order another one of these fine rubber monstrosities.

Made of plastic but seems to work OK
I was disappointed when opening the box to find the HDD tray is plastic. The plastic tray slides inside a metal sleeve, but the drive itself is nested in plastic. This didn't appear good for heat dissipation. I ran a few hash manifests on the drive (a total of 1 hour) and the temperature elevated from 21C to 35C. Not bad, but also not good. Transfer speeds were expected for running hashes on 5400RPM CMR HDD.

Not equipped to work in Singapore
First off, the product seems robust and well equipped with cables and instructions. It seems to work well. However, it's made for the US market and ships only with an American two-pin adaptor. I can't find anything in the sales blurb that states this and Amazon does not seem to want me to contact the seller directly. I just don't understand why Amazon.sg sells products that weren't designed for the Singaporean market. I now have to go to a third party to enquire about replacement adaptors. Moreover, most adaptors nowadays come with a range of international fittings. Who still ships single market adaptors? 95% of us don't live in the US. Definitely time to broaden a few horizons.

The bumper will fit other drives.
5 & 1/2 years after buying it, the status LED has ceased to work. I've pulled the drive case from use on the basis that the rest of the electronics will now be suspect. Thankfully, the rubber bumper fits on the Simplecom drive cases I use for all my other externals, so they're now "rugged".
