Product description Review: Excellent - I like Smallrig products in general, they always seem to be coming up with well designed products that solve real problems. This is no different. It's a winner. It's not expensive and is still made from metal...no plastic here. It fits snugly into my Canon V1's hot shoe. The muffler then sits directly over the built in mic. The wind noise is practically eliminated. It makes a tremendous difference. Smallrig even throws in a cold shoe, so I'm not left out in the cold (groan). I do lose the hot shoe, but this accessory is for taking videos, not stills. A hot shoe is really only required for still photography. Smallrig correctly assumes i will be using video lights when I need the muffler. Those don't need a hot shoe, any cold shoe will do. So I still get to place a video light on top, and have the sound greatly improved. Pretty good deal here. Nicely designed and nicely made. Recommended! Review: Dead Cat… With a Side of Identity Crisis - As far as dead cats go, this one does a solid job. Cuts down wind noise so you don’t sound like you’re filming in a hurricane every time there’s a breeze. That part? Nailed it. But here’s the twist—it turns your hot shoe into a cold shoe. Basically takes your camera from “ready to power accessories” to “yeah… you’re on your own now, buddy.” Not a huge deal if you’re not running powered gear like lights or mics that need that hot connection. But if you are, you might be doing a little gear Tetris trying to make everything play nice. Still, for wind reduction, it works well and does what it’s supposed to do. Just comes with a little identity swap for your mount. Three stars. Good at killing wind noise… just also quietly kills your hot shoe in the process.

Smallrig to the Rescue for Canon PowerShot V1!
I picked up this Smallrig furry windscreen for my wife's Canon PowerShot V1, and wow, what a game-changer! She uses her camera to shoot short video clips for her business, but the sound of strong winds was a real issue due to the camera's built-in microphone placement. I knew Smallrig would have the perfect solution because everything they make is just amazing quality. This guy slides right in and works wonders instantly. The professional faux fur windshield really cuts down on wind noise, giving her much clearer audio for her outdoor shoots. Plus, it has that extra cold shoe adapter, which is super handy if she ever wants to add an LED light or another mic. Seriously, you can never go wrong with Smallrig products. Guess who scored major points with the wife? This guy did!

Good windscreen for the Canon PowerShot V1 microphone
This is well made and functional windscreen for the Canon PowerShot V1. This is very much like the factory windscreen that comes with the V1. This does a very good job of recording, while blocking out any wind noise. This fits well, and is easy to install and easy to remove. This is a very good replacement or backup. The windscreen that comes with the V1 camera is a must have item, but it is very easy to lose or damage.

Slides right in. Easiest upgrade for outdoor shooting.
This windscreen slides right into the hotshoe and covers the microphone with a windscreen. Instantly cuts the wind, affecting the sound quality.
