I honestly misunderstood what these were when I ordered them, so I’ve been using them on an alternate “system” (just water n in the bottom of containers and then transplanting the “soil”). I’ve found that they work well. My flowers and veggies germinated quickly.Based on my research, they will fit a real hydroponic system. It was quite easy to use, just putting the soil pods into the plastic containers. They don’t feel noticeably durable, yet I don’t think that any version of these are durable. The soil didn’t disintegrate when put into water though.I think this provides good quality for the money you spend on them. I only wish I had the real system (don’t have money for one currently!).

I dream of having a classy nutrient film technique system, but until then I have a bootleg hydroponic storage bin. These are a nice bulk value really just for the plastic, but it’s a great product because it comes with a good bunch of the spongy substrate for starting seedlings. They absorb the water that they’re going to within seconds, much faster than the peat rounds. I feel much better giving these frequent watering knowing that they won’t hold onto all that much water well still remaining adequately moistened for developing roots. I found there was enough space in these net pots above the substrate plugs to fit 3 to 5 small clay pellets. Not sure it’ll be totally necessary, but I wasn’t sure what else to do with the extra room. They seem like they will be stable and reusable for a while. Recommend if you’re starting from seeds.
