The Grid Is Safe Again Thanks to This Lamp
I have a very specific set of priorities. One of them involves watching movies about digital landscapes where people wear glowing suits. When my projector lamp died last week, I panicked. The screen went dark right in the middle of a calm Tuesday evening. It felt like the Master Control Program had personally deleted my entertainment system. I sat in the darkness and realized I had failed to keep a spare bulb. This was a critical error in my operating system.I ordered this replacement lamp with a sense of urgency. I had a date with the new Tron movie scheduled for Friday night. It was non-negotiable. I needed to see light cycles and identity discs in high definition. The lamp arrived on Thursday. The packaging was secure, which is good because I treat delivery boxes with suspicion. I opened it up. The housing looked identical to the original Epson unit. It smelled like new plastic and potential victory.Installation was simple. I unscrewed the panel on my projector. I pulled out the old, dead lamp. It looked tired. I slid the new one in. It clicked into place with a satisfying mechanical sound. I secured the screws and put the cover back on. Then came the moment of truth. I pressed the power button. The fan whirred. A few seconds later, a beam of pure light shot out of the lens. It was bright. It was glorious. It was bright enough to signal Batman, though I was only signaling for Jeff Bridges.Friday night arrived. I fired up the system. The picture quality was stunning. The colors were vibrant. The neon blues and oranges of the Grid popped off the screen. The brightness levels were back to what they were when the projector was new. I watched the entire movie without a single flicker or dimming issue. The lamp performed perfectly. It saved my movie night and restored order to my living room. If you need to resurrect your home theater for important sci-fi viewing, this lamp is the correct hardware for the job. End of line.

Worked great for our Epson 5050UB
I remember the days of having a projector and the bulb would cost $350-$500! Can’t believe these are so inexpensive and easy to change. This was a direct replacement for our Epson 5050UB. We had A LOT of hours on our projector from constant video game use from the kids, and you forget how a great new lamp looks! Was bright, and picture looked fantastic! Easy to install, fit was great, looked just like the original lamp! Let’s hope the lifespan is as good as the original one, but again, at this price point it makes it much easier to keep a projector for the long run.
