AXIL GS Extreme 3.0 Shooting Ear Protection Earbuds, 5X Hearing, Black

These are by far one of the best purchases I've made for my range trips. They are comfortable, very diverse with how many options they provide for fit, and the sound reduction and protection they offer are superb. These are the first in ear hearing protection that actually protects my hearing. It allows me to look through my lpvo without cranking my neck in crazy positions due to the ear muffs being in the way. I would recommend these to anyone.

So, I have used this about 5 times now at the indoor range. It appears to work well enough for ears protection, even with a shotgun blast, it did its job and did not cause my ears to ring. For my ears, it is comfortable, I can probably wear this for a few hours with no complain.I have also used it as a music head phone, the quality is decent, but don't expect an Apple EarPods sound quality.My only problem is how annoying it is to set it up. Unlike an overhead ear muff, where you just put it over your head and go. This one requires you to compress the foams and properly loop the wire over the ears. Sometimes I forget to turn it on prior to wearing it, and had a fun time finding the power button, because you can't really see it. Hopefully I will get use to it and it will be like a second nature.

I had a pair of the old version of these. Eventually, the connection to one of the earbuds went bad, so I bought this one. Bad move.From the get go, they weren’t great. The “sound on” mode had a faint click every couple of seconds. Kind of annoying, but not the end of the world. Then a couple weeks later, the touch sensors used to toggle that function became less sensitive, and now they don’t even work. And now, the connection to the right ear bud has gone so the audio keeps cutting out. I bought these three months ago.Waste of money, do not buy.

The hearing protection (NRR) seems to be very good, I do like the amount of custom fittings to adjust to your ear. The control interface is not intuitive as the Bluetooth controls are the physical buttons and the active hearing controls are captivate touch buttons on the ear piece itself, really all controls should be with the physical buttons. For some reason the active hearing is not automatically turned on when you first power on the device which is a bizarre design choice and fairly annoying, but the headset does let you know that you have entered the world of Axil. The sound quality is mid tier, about what a pair of walkers would be, they amplify a lot but end up amplifying very close noise and white noise as well making hearing distant sounds challenging. Compared to a set of Peltor comtacs or sport tacs the signal to noise ratio isn't close, the Peltor's sound quality is significantly better for a similar or cheaper price on the sport tacs. Overall I wouldn't say these are a great value for the money unless you need earbud style hearing protection which compared to Milwaukee's ear buds these are probably a great value. However for me I will probably keep using my Peltors.

The AXIL GS Extreme 3.0 is a pretty slick upgrade. It basically jams three different devices into one pair of earbuds, giving you high-end hearing protection, the ability to crank up ambient sounds so you can actually hear people talking, and Bluetooth for your music or calls.This 3.0 version is a step up because it lasts way longer than the older models, giving you about 25 hours of battery life for just the hearing enhancement or around 8 hours if you’re streaming audio at the same time. They’ve also revamped the fit with a "Lock-n-Loaded" design that hooks into your ear, so they won't go flying if you're moving around a lot.The sound compression is super fast, which is the most important part, as it shuts out loud bangs instantly while still letting you hear the gravel crunching under your boots. It’s a great pick if you hate the bulk of traditional over-ear muffs, especially in hot weather or when you're trying to get a good cheek weld on a rifle. Get them.
