I’ll be starting to build sliding doors for our barn shortly. The barn opening is 12 feet wide, so this kit will handle just one side of the opening. Before I purchased the additional kit, I wanted to see how well made the hardware and components of this kit were. I removed and inspected each piece of this kit. I can say with certainty that the parts and hardware of this kit are strong and substantial. I am impressed at the thickness and precision of each of the parts I reviewed. I’ve seen some cheaper-made aluminum kits for barn sliding doors. But when you are dealing with horses, you want the strongest components available. Each and every part of this kit is strong almost to the point of being over-built. From the rails to the rollers, every part is hefty and well made. For as strong as they are, the rollers roll smoothly and quietly. I have no doubt that the parts in this kit are strong enough to hold up a large and heavy barn door. I am also confident that this hardware will hold up to the possible punishment that our horses will apply to those doors. In fact, I am so impressed and confident about this kit and its components, that I just ordered a second kit for the other half of the main barn opening.

This kit was easy to install. It glides effortlessly with no squeaks or jams. I built a 4 ft X 8 ft solid wood door that was 1-3/4" thick, the maximum thickness allowed, and this kit handles it with no problem. The pieces are protected with a thick coating to prevent rust and protect them from the elements. I only wish there were additional door guides for the bottom of the door. But the door and hardware look great; it was the perfect size for this outdoor barn door, and it is a great value for the price. I highly recommend it for an outdoor shed or shop.

This is a very good product

I got one of the two I ordered hung up today. Decent kit but if you are looking for a product that will just work I don’t know if this is it. The holes drilled in the rails didn’t perfectly line up with the support brackets. I could not get both screws in without enlarging the hole on one side or the other where the bracket holds the rails together. Even with enlarging the holes this still caused an upward bow across the length of the rail. It was slight and I was able to pull it down to level and it turned out great, but if your aren’t willing to do some minor modification, this product may not be for you.
