I really wanted to like this lock. However, needed to reverse it. No matter what I tried or how much time I spent working with it, it would not work when reversed. It would work reversed until I tried to place it in the door. Then, the latch would not move. I watched the videos. Husband and I spent an hour and a half working with this and we had to put it back the way it was so the latch works upside down and I have to tape the part that you pull on so it doesn't fall down. Makes it look so easy to reverse but for us, it didn't work when reversed once installed in the door.

This latch was purchased to replace a 20 year old latch that would no longer lock. Perfect replacement. Easy to install.

I bought two to replace the pocket door hardware in my house with the same dimensions, which was very helpful in identifying the right fit vs the others I was finding. They also look really nice and feel like good quality. They installed pretty easy even with having to flip the handles to reverse the mechanism to face the other direction. Mostly it works well, but the opening isn't very forgiving for doors like mine that have a lot of swinging play and may not always line up with the slot (I'll need something to help the door stay toward the middle of the opening). Also the screws for the jam plate protrude the slightest bit which increases the distance between the door and jam ever so slightly (I might try grinding them with a dremmel). One of our doors also doesn't appear to be square in our 20 year old house. The result is one of our doors will lock most of the time and the other doesn't really unless you lock it before you slide it closed.

exact replacement for original broken latch on pocket door. everything lined up where the old one did, including the screw holes. had to change the latch operation side, but it wasn't difficult. tip, leave the screws a little loose for the door pull plate until it is installed on the door otherwise it is pretty tight. one other review said you cannot have more than 1/16th inch gap between the door and the door frame or the latch will not catch the strike plate. this is true. i cannot deduct a star for it because the old latch was the same way and i always had issues getting it to latch. my solution, i put the new strike plate over the old strike plate to bring it away from the door frame a little bit. first i flipped the old strike plate upside down because the hole in it is offset so i needed the bottom edge of the hole in the old one to sit lower than the bottom edge of the hole in the new one so that the latch would catch the new strike plate. works perfectly now
