desertcart.com: Leen Premium Ajwa Dates –Resealable Zipper Pouch | Fresh Authentic Ajwa from Al-Madinah Al-Munawarah | Natural, Soft & Rich Flavor | Premium Saudi Dates (110 g) : Grocery & Gourmet Food Review: A Genuine Taste of Medina in a Small but Thoughtful Package - Leen Premium Ajwa Dates arrived in a 110-gram resealable zipper pouch — small enough to sit in a desk drawer or toss in a bag. The dates themselves are dark, almost black, with a dry, slightly wrinkled skin that gives way to a soft, dense interior when you bite in. If you have only ever had Medjool dates, Ajwa will feel like a different experience entirely. These are noticeably smaller, with a higher pit-to-fruit ratio, so each date is more of a concentrated bite than a full snack. The flavor leans toward dark caramel with a faint bitterness underneath the sweetness — not the honey-forward profile you get from Medjool. The texture is chewy and firm without being dry, which makes them satisfying to eat slowly rather than popping several at once. Ajwa dates are cultivated exclusively in the Medina region of Saudi Arabia and are considered among the most prized date varieties in the Middle East. They carry a strong nutritional profile — high in potassium, fiber, and antioxidants — making them a reasonable alternative to processed sweets when an afternoon craving hits. The resealable pouch works well and kept the remaining dates fresh over several days. At 110 grams, the quantity is modest — roughly 15 to 18 dates depending on size — so this is more of an introduction to the variety than a bulk supply. For someone unfamiliar with Ajwa, it is a good way to try them without committing to a larger purchase. Review: DELICIOUS! - I was not familiar with the Ajwa variety of dates. I love dates and have only been exposed to the Medjool variety. These dates are different in a few ways. They are dark in color, instead of golden, almost black and have a wrinkly appearance, sort of looking like a large raisin. They are round and small. Some of them still had the stems attached. When biting into them, you are not overwhelmed by an overly sweet flavor like some dates can be. These are just the right amount of sweet and they are incredibly moist. These are like an indulgent treat, you don’t need to eat more than one or two as they are really satisfying. The cost of dates are usually what prohibits me from buying them too often, and these are definitely in the pricey category. The package is 110 grams which make these dates about a dollar a piece. The package seals tight with a zipper closure so your dates will be sure to remain fresh.

Tasty Dates but Very Small Bag and Not Pitted
These Ajwa dates taste good and have a nice soft texture, but the bag is much smaller than I expected for the price. They’re fresh and flavorful, but definitely not pitted, so you have to be careful when eating them. I also thought the pouch would hold more, so the amount you get feels a bit disappointing. If you just want a small treat of authentic Ajwa dates, they’re good quality, but the portion size and the pits are worth keeping in mind.

Great flavor and texture, not overly sweet.
Up for review are Leen brand Ajwa Dates. The quantity is about 110g and included is a quality resealable bag. Ajwa dates are a specific cultivar of the palm date most commonly grown in Saudi Arabia, where these come from. These are relatively compact at about an inch in length, roughly capsule shaped with a black skin and a smooth, shiny, wrinkled exterior that is slightly speckled on very close inspection. Compared to other dates that I've had, they are darker and less red in color and have more of a short, stout shape to them. They aren't sticky and have a smaller / shorter pit than other dates I've had. They have a little remnant of the stem on one end that is easy to chew and disappears when you eat the fruit. Tasting these, I was struck by the subtlety of the flavor. They do not have an overpowering sweetness to them like some dates, and a nice chew to them that feels slightly firm but not at all tough--almost like a soft taffy that doesn't stick to your teeth. The skins are very subtle and tend to disappear when chewed. The flavor is mild and has some butterscotch or brown sugar notes to it. The only ingredient is dates, so there is no added sugar or other tricks to modify or intensify the flavor, which I really like. They don't make you feel like you are eating candy, as is the case with some dates I've had. These are really nice with coffee (I've been eating a few with coffee as I write this). The coffee underscores the sweetness in a nice way. I've always enjoyed dates, but not sought them out necessarily. These seem like something I'd go out of my way to have again. These are expensive for what they are, which is my only real complaint. I couldn't justify buying these frequently. It's hard to visualize 110 grams, but the bag is a little wider than my cell phone and about two inches thick front-to-back the base, tapering down to a point where the bag opens. I haven't counted the dates, but it's not a huge number. So it's a substantial price for the quantity, but the quality of the fruit is excellent.

Fresh, soft, and truly premium dates
These Ajwa dates were delicious and had just the right texture—not overly chewy or sticky. They have a nice density to them and taste extremely fresh, which really sets them apart from more standard grocery store dates. The flavor is naturally sweet without being overwhelming, and they have that rich, slightly caramel-like taste you expect from a high-quality date. You can tell these are a more premium product both in taste and appearance. The resealable bag is also very convenient. It’s compact enough to throw in a purse or lunchbox, making them an easy snack on the go. They also work well for quick energy, pairing with nuts, or even adding to desserts. They are a bit expensive compared to regular dates, but the quality, freshness, moistness, and overall experience do justify the higher price. Overall, a great option if you’re looking for a premium, convenient snack.
