Great tasting and easy on my espresso machine
I purchased a very expensive Jura espresso machine ($2,500+) almost 10 years ago and have always used these beans in it. I've never had a problem with my machine. Not only do these beans make great tasting espresso, they are not too oily. They keep my machine running smooth smoothly.

This packaged coffee competes well with freshly roasted
I know there are plenty of purists who believe that pre-packaged coffee can't measure up to that which is freshly roasted. I've been a coffee lover for years, but only recently started diving deeper into my understanding of roasts and preparation methods. About ten years ago I had a Francis Francis X1, and I used Illy pods with it. Fast forward to today, and I have a Rancilio Rocky grinder, a Bodum french press, a Techivorm Moccamaster, and a Rancilio Silvia espresso machine. I've enjoyed many beans, some fresh from local roasters and many from pre-packaged brands that you can find in the grocery store. It was only a few days ago that I thought about Illy and the espresso I'd had from their pods years ago. I looked all over town for Illy beans, but could only find pre-ground, so I ordered a case of medium, and a case of dark beans here on Amazon and I'm very impressed with both. So far, I've made espresso with the dark roast and drip with the medium roast, and both are outstanding. I'm also happy about this because I know that with Illy there is consistency. I can open another can, from another batch, years from now and be able to produce this same excellent shot of espresso or cup of coffee. I read some of Illy's marketing materials, and they point out that their coffee cans are first evacuated of air by vacuum and then pressurized with nitrogen. This process, they say, is patented and unique to them, allowing their coffee to retain freshness in the can for years. The idea is that rather than off-gassing, releasing oils and drying out, the inert gas under pressure keeps the oils in the beans and helps them build character as they age, they compare this to wine aging in the bottle. I'm not afraid to admit to my ignorance regarding the science behind these claims, but it sounds pretty good, right? If you haven't yet found the perfect cup, give these beans a shot.

One of the Best Coffee I've Found for My Home Office
I love coffee, which helps jumpstart my day, ready to take on work. I also like to host meetings in my home office/ studio - I knew I would need coffee on hand, equivalent to the best coffee you can get in places like Australia and Italy. First, I made an investment in an awesome coffee maker. Second I needed to find just the right beans. After many attempts, I found tried Illy’s Coffee. While I am still on the hunt - my go-to is this brand. The beans grind quickly and consistently, resulting in a satisfying and smooth texture and the after-brew was addicting-- strong and intense, and the cocoa flavor really came to life.I highly recommend these beans for those who enjoy their coffee strong and bold.

Pretty Good but there is better for less money.
Nothing wrong with this expresso. Make sure you use the Bold Roast. I love the vacuum packed can but you can do better for less money with other brands. It is good not great.

Expensive, but widely available and quite delicious.
Illy Intense coffee beans are the best, most consistent coffee beans we've had - ever. We've had whole coffee beans from tons of niche roasters, plus the usual variety of roasters such as Lavazza, Starbucks, Peet's, Seattle's Best, Stumptown, Carabou, etc. We've also had many of the highly ranked beans such as Jamaica Blue Mtn., Pure Kona and so forth. The consistency and taste of the Illy Intenso is what makes them our go-to coffee. Negative: I don't like how the lid doesn't screw on tightly, and the cans are easily damaged during shipping. But as for the coffee, it's awesome.

N.1 Indiscusso
