Deadman Wonderland, Volume 4

The fourth volume of the `Deadman Wonderland' manga sees Ganta join up with the underground organization Scar Chin in an effort to bring down the insane prison. Deadman Wonderland's annual inspection is coming up and Scar Chin are going to use this opportunity to expose the prison's illegal activities. The only thing standing in their way are the Undertakers, a group of murderers specially trained and conditioned to fight Deadmen.This is another very good volume of `Deadman Wonderland' with some nice gore and some very good fights. Despite having a few issues the plot remains good and is very interesting. The characters introduced in this arc are interesting and the Undertakers are brilliantly twisted.This volume does have a few issues with the translation however (Scar Chin being referred to as Skull Chin at one point being the most obvious) but other than this there aren't really any major problems with the volume and it is well worth a full five stars.

Simply put, Deadman Wonderland is great. If you haven't read it, do so. It doesn't stand up to classics such as Akira, but holds it's own in terms of enjoyability and entertainment value. I've been holding off watching the anime for the sake of these volumes and as such can't compare the two, but am definitely looking forward to future delvings into the series.
