Does it always burn that face print on or only on a certain setting?

It always burns the face on. The key word is burns, so you end up with a large section of your toast burnt everytime. We used this for several months & have since gotten a regular, no fun toaster, that evenly heats the bread.

Can I fit a bagel in it?

It might fit, but the hole in the bagel would mess things up.
