I have just ordered another large bag of these seeds, I am that impressed by them. I have a new construction home that comes with some yard challenges. A large part is fully shaded, then a large partial shade area, and a small bit of full sun. It's not the easiest or greateat soil, it is slopped heavy in parts as well. While some of the year is fairly wet, summer tends towards some dry spells. We needed something that could tolerate the variety of situations with the sun, was tolerant to both a lot of moisture and drought resistant, and if some soil retention was included that was even better. Something that would cover well and quickly, look good, and not require a ton of upkeep once established. Mini clover seemed to fit the best with all out needs. I did some research and decided to give Outsidepride a chance. My first purchase was a small 1lb bag. I waited until we were expected sevwral days of rainfall, then basically tossed the seed out over a bare, fully shaded, steep slope. Within a couoke days the first green specks had appeared, and a LOT of them. By the end of the week the ground was a beautiful lush green. So I bought a 5lb bag from them. Again, spread it just before several days of rain was expected. Same results, tons of green specks within a couple days, and now there is an absolute ton of baby clover everywhere I spread it. A good blanket of it, not patchy, not clumpy, beautifully spread. The first batch I spread now has the first little flowers. That bank went from looking bare, harsh, and gloomy to looking soft and lucious even though it is shaded all the time. So I just ordered my second 5lb bag, since we're expecting rain again. This stuff comes up so fast, the germination rate is wonderful, and I will be using Outsidepride for other seed purchases in the future as well.

JULY 2019 UPDATE: We haven’t watered or put any chemicals on our lawn! I have uploaded a picture showing our clover mix lawn and what a pretty shade of green it is compared to the neighbors grass lawn. We still need to mow once a week, but now there are hardly any clover flowers. The grass still dies when the dogs pee on it, but the clover does not. I’m super curious to see what happens during the dryer months of the summer when the lawns all turn brown. I just moved my star rating from four to five stars. This really is one of the best decisions that we have ever made. I will update again during the drought months. JUNE 2019 Update: We LOVE our lawn! Yes, we are getting little white flowers, but we can mow them away. As of right now, we have not yet trained it to stay short. We are mowing as often as a regular lawn. BUT, the dog pee doesn’t kill this. The dog pee still kills the grass. We haven’t watered it once yet. We have little to NO other weeds. But that being said, I bought a weeding tool in early spring and hand popped out all the dandelions, crab/Johnson grass and broad leaf weeds, they haven’t come back. I will update again during the drought months. UPDATE March 9, 2019. The third picture you see is our lawn now. We are very happy with our decision to go green and stop pouring chemicals on our lawn. I must say that our lawn is way greener than any of our neighbors lawns. We bought another bag, but haven’t put it down yet. We are going to use it in a few spots that were missed last year. My husband told me to buy it before they ran out, so I did. So far we are just using this in our backyard where our puppies play and go potty. I will keep updating. I’m waiting for the summer drought before moving it up to five stars, but as of now I’m completely happy. We spent $3,000 for sod last May that all died despite a $400 water bill. Since we have two new puppies, we decided not to treat it with chemicals. Our last dog died of cancer at age six, so we refuse to put down chemical fertilizers. Then my husband told me about clover and I said, “absolutely not!” He asked me to just read the article and then think about it. After reading it, I agreed it would be the best way to have a green lawn and still be healthy for our puppies and the environment. In September we planted one five pound bag along of clover with two 40 pound bags of grass seed in our back yard which is about 75 wide by 75 deep and covered it with some tacky straw. The grass came up right away, but petered out. The clover started coming up within five days, but stayed small and sparse for about six weeks. Now it’s November and we have had a couple of freezes and it’s a pretty green. The neighbors lawns have all started to die off, as well as the field behind us. I will post pictures of the color difference. I look forward to seeing what will happen this winter and next spring as well as the summer drought. I will keep this updated, mainly because the older I get the less I remember, so I will be able to look back on this and know whether or not to buy some more. The first picture shows our lawn up close with zero chemicals and the neighbors lawn on the other side of the fence with his “professional “ lawn care. The second picture shows the field behind us has all died off. This past summer, our new sod was as brown as that field. What you see in our lawn is 95 percent clover and very little grass. In fact, the brown you see is the grass. FOR REFERENCE: We live in upper middle Tennessee where the “soil” is mostly red clay.

I wish I could give this zero stars, but Amazon requires at least one. I purchased Outsidepride Micro Clover seed because the listing (and their own website) repeatedly claims it stays **4-6 inches tall** – the entire reason I chose micro clover over regular white clover. I spent weeks killing off my old lawn, renting a sod cutter, hauling in multiple yards of new topsoil, leveling everything perfectly, and then seeded according to instructions. I babied this lawn all season. Result? At full maturity, my “micro” clover averages **10-11 inches tall** and looks exactly like regular Dutch white clover you can buy for half the price anywhere else. It flops over, mats, and requires constant mowing if you don’t want it to look like a hayfield. This is **not** the low-growing, golf-course-look product that is heavily advertised. When I contacted Outsidepride about the height issue, I was told to “email customer support.” I did – multiple times. Over the course of **two months** and six polite, detailed emails with photos attached, I received **zero responses**. Not an acknowledgment, not an apology, nothing. I have also called their published customer service number repeatedly and either get voicemail that is never returned or an answering service that says “someone will get back to you” (spoiler: no one ever does). This is textbook false advertising followed by complete abandonment of the customer. I’m out several hundred dollars in seed, soil, and countless hours of labor for a product that does not remotely match its description. Save your money and your sanity – buy micro clover from literally any other reputable company (Barenbrug, Hancock, etc.) or just use regular white clover and call it a day. Outsidepride clearly does not stand behind their claims or their customers. Buyer beware – strongly recommend you look elsewhere.

I ordered this in may of 2021 and was not impressed with the tiny amount of seed and seemed to get very little growth out of it. What did come up resembled little clovers, but not really clover if that makes sense. Well it’s summer 2025 and something amazing has happened. Half my yard is covered in a low growing green clover that stayed green through the heat wave with only the rain watering it. I’m ashamed to say I have done nothing to nurture my lawn aside. It’s choking out my crappy high maintenance grass and I just realized I haven’t seen a dandelion all summer. I just had to search my old orders because I don’t know what this magical plant is but I need this EVERYWHERE. Who’s dumb idea was grass even anyway? Pic is from this morning, the brown patches you see are grass. The green is this “clover”. It took years for this tiny bag to establish and spread, but I’m obsessed and I’m buying more.

Grew readily, we planted in May, it's mid-August and I STILL haven't had to mow! :-D This seed was easy to germinate-what we did was sprinkle it over the bare dirt that we had raked loose, then cover it with a thin layer of peat moss, then water for 5 minutes twice a day-early morning and late evening, and it came up GREAT! I WOULD recommend you pre-germinate your weed seeds first, and get rid of those BEFORE planting your clover, and sprinkle it more evenly than I did! ;-)

UPDATES BELOW: Fall 2025. These were spread over a lightly raked, native midwest soil (fairly high clay content, plus old compacted top-soil) where other grasses, clover, and dandelions have grown, and then watered daily. Temps were 55-75 most days, a couple around 80. After 10 days there were no spouts visible in any of the five areas where I put seed down. The best I can figure is that in more compacted soil, it takes several days for them to work their way into the soil before germinating, which takes about a week. You may need to prep the areas by raking first, then putting a thin layer of loose soil down, then clover seed, then cover with a bit more soil. It's not clear if these areas will grow without direct sun; to be safe I made sure none of the areas were covered by old leaves etc, even though this can mean the soil dries out quicker. Bottom line: if you just spread seed onto unprepared, compacted lawn soil, they may not germinate. UPDATE 1: It took 2 weeks (!) but some of the seed finally germinated and sprouted. Will give benefit of the doubt that those that didn't were due to a soil issue rather than being inert. Changing rating to 3 Stars for now, waiting to see how well they grow and making sure none are black clover as some reviewers mentioned. Note that the sprouts will have two small leaves (not three), and these are not the actual leaves you will see sprout later. This confused me at first, thinking that the bag might've contained relatively high weed content (like cheaper grass seed found at big box stores). UPDATE 2: at roughly week 3, after additional waterings, the germinated areas filled in pretty well with sprouts (full cover), but they are still very small (maybe quarter inch high). Decided since then to rake some additional areas to loosen dead grass and soil, and spread the rest of the seed where I can see bare soil, in the hopes that upcoming rains and temps below 70 will soak them in and the seeds germinate before it gets colder. Will provide third update in spring to detail: a) whether the initial sprouts survived winter and re-grew in spring as perennials should, and b) whether any of the seed spread in loose but not fully soil-raked areas took on their own with rain and cool fall weather. UPDATE 3: Spring 2026. The most densely seeded patches of clover appear to have NOT survived the winter snow cover, while the less dense areas that were mixed in with grass, DID appear to go dormant and survive to some degree (maybe 50% of the sprouts). Additional seed has been put down in new areas this spring to see if, when grown from spring, they survive winters better. Another update will follow summer 2026, but for now I would say this type of clover will survive better in places the winters are relatively warmer / with only a few days of snow cover. Anything upper midwest or farther north probably won't work. Final note: as new sprouts show up, still no indication of Black Clover mixed in, so that's a plus. UPDATE 4: Summer 2026. The new seed put down in the spring took very well in most spots (probably due to extra rain and prolonged cooler weather). Several patches have taken fully and grown to 2-3" tall. Have attempted to do a high mower pass over a couple of them to see if mowing kills them or causes to grow back. So far appears to be the latter / have not seen evidence of die-off, even though it has been 90s in this area during the mowing period. Remains to be seen: 1) Whether these spread on their own to neighboring areas vs. having to seed everywhere you want there to be clover, and 2) How all areas will survive next winter's snow-cover / compaction (we often run our dog in these areas year-round). Relating to the spreading of this clover type, the wild clover has already flowered / seeded in the last week or so, but so far this clover has not followed a similar pattern — possibly this happens later in summer for some varieties. Will report back on all Spring 2027.

So cute and tiny. Love it as an alternative to grass. Which will not grow where I want it. I planted grass. I EZ seed. Yes, it grew. But very patchy, thin. And it didn’t come back after winter. So for my dirt filled backyard that used to be a forest, clover is my last idea. This is very expensive. I don’t like that. But, 5lbs covered a very large area, and it’s dyed pink so you can see where you put the seed. No fancy crap, I just tossed it around, after raking away debris. Watered very well, like puddles, for a few days. Germination was very fast, growth is substantial compared to grass seed. And it looks great. Like a little tiny carpet of happiness. I hope it takes hold enough to come back as advertised. Getting more for bald spots in other areas, and to fill in dirt areas. My backyard is huge, and I have a collection of different grasses and weeds. As long as it’s green and helps with erosion due to my slope. Highly recommend. Can we get a sale or a coupon??? Please?

After a couple of seasons of trial and care, our lawn has never looked better. Starting with decomposed granite—a soil type that's essentially sand and notoriously difficult for traditional grass—we decided to try miniclover. The results have been impressive. The miniclover proved to be a resilient and attractive ground cover. It took some effort to get it germinated, especially in such fast-draining soil, but once established, it thrived. We did encounter a few stubborn patches where the seeds didn’t take, but a thin layer of garden soil and reseeding solved that quickly. Now, the lawn is lush, green, and low-maintenance. It requires far less mowing, stays vibrant, and even helps improve soil health by fixing nitrogen. If you're dealing with sandy or poor soil, miniclover is a fantastic alternative to traditional turf. Highly recommend for anyone looking to revitalize their yard with something sustainable and beautiful.

Used these on my lawn where grass had a hard time growing. Got a lush layer of clover now. They don't stay too short unless you trim them regularly. Be careful not to mow them too short. I made that mistake my first year growing these. If you mow too short the plant cant recover and it dies out. The clover grows pretty easily. I just sprinkled around the lawn before a few days of rain and that's all it took. After it's established it doesn't need to be watered regularly. While some of my neighbors grass lawns are yellowing, my clover is as green as ever.

I stripped all my grass off the front lawn and planted this brand of white clover last summer. This year I haven't cut the lawn or clover not once it is drought tolerant and great for the pollinators and no more annoying nats flying around or landing on my entrance way into the house. What a great idea from the fifties from before A grass lawn was a thing. Best part is this stuff makes it's own nitrogen at the root all you need is add Potassium and phosphorus. The clover grows to 8 inches and is green while the neighbours water every few days and i haven't watered once my hose is still in the shed this clover is the best lawn I ever had.

We are very disappointed with these seeds. We used these to reseed our entire backyard from scratch. We were impressed to see them take very quickly and without too much effort. By the end of last summer it was fully taken but not enough to gain height before winter. However, it has become quite clear this year that we did not get the microclover seeds we paid for. The clover we got is so tall we have to mow it once a week so that our youngest can play outside without tripping on it. Otherwise it grows up to their knees very quickly. We bought it for a lower maintenance option for the kids to play. Definitely false advertising on that front.

Seeds arrived sooner than expected. I haven't had growth yet as I just received the seeds. There are tons of seeds, and I'm excited about all the benefits of micro-clover: drought-tolerant, nitro-fixing, no-mow required, lawn replacement. Our new build is on a steep slope that would make mowing impossible. The top soil was removed in excavation, so I'm hoping to sow the clover as ground cover and not have to mow. Im not replacing existing grass. But the micro-clover sounds so easy and perfect for what I'm looking for. Edit: the sample seeds i buried mid-March (zone 6/7) germinated in my clay soil in about a week. Even some of the broadcast seed is starting to germinate. Germination rates seem very good.
