A nice read for when you’re feeling stuck.
I was feeling stuck and not quite sure where to go or what to do. This book was perfect for giving me the little jolt that I needed. I don’t have to go anywhere. I don’t have to sign up for any course. I don’t have to spend any money none of that.I can be grateful for who, what and where I am and then help someone else.

Fundamentals
I’ve done all of this before and for 3 years I thought I’d never feel “the way I used to feel” ever again. I thought I was forever changed, and I loved who I had become. Then I stopped the work that I had done to create the persons I wanted to be, life threw me a curve or two, and my consistent practicing of simple fundamentals on a daily basis wasn’t there and so neither were the results I had created in equally difficult circumstances in the past. I’ve realized the daily “mental workouts” which massively created what/who I wanted to be just needed to be reimplemented. I’ve been working daily, again, and my thinking is already better again, my optimism is returning, and this book is one of the tools I’m using. I believe Tony discusses building mental muscles. I worked my ass off to do that once before but was shortsighted in thinking that once I had it, I had it forever. I’m re-dedicated and am excited because I know what’s coming: extreme belief in myself, optimism no matter what life throws at me. Showing up believing there’s no better MD in the ER than me and that each patient is lucky to have me; each friend is going to love being around me; my kids will adore their time wih me. I had it. I slipped a bit, and now I’ll ge it all back by doing the work again….and keeping up wih I this time. Please believe. We are all more alike than we are different. If others can do it, why can’t we? Let’s create what we want!

Excellent, but...
I'm a huge fan of Tony Robbins work and love this QUICK, POWERFUL read. BUT (although my respect to the artist) the silly cartoon drawings are out of place in this context, they are distracting, they cheapen the messages, and they are all cartoon drawings of white people, except for one. I'm embarrassed to gift this book and there are SO many people I want to buy it for.I wish this book would be reprinted without the cartoons (except for the charlie brown comic which has an important message). In any case, Tony is an extraordinary person. He originally wrote this short book as a free gift to include with every Thanksgiving basket his foundation delivers each year, as a quick summary of Awaken The Giant, so more people would read it and benefit from its messages. The book became so well liked it was made available for sale.

A Distillation of Tony's Books, CD's and Courses
I've listened to and watched hours of Tony Robbins, attended all of his courses including his four part Mastery Program. This book is a distillation of what I have learned in all those books, CD's and in all those courses. The best part is that this book is a simple step by step guide for transforming your entire life. And it's about 100 pages, so it's a quick read that you will keep coming back to after you have put into practice what you learned. Because once you actually take "Massive Action" as Tony recommends, you will have a deeper understanding of what he writes about and you will get even more out of the second, third, fourth etc. reading. So, if you are already a Tony Robbins fan, get the book. It's a quick and easy refresher for what you have learned. If you don't know much about Tony Robbins, it's a good introduction and then do as he suggests in it take "Massive Action" and get some of his other books and go to his seminars. "Unleash the Power Within" is the introductory seminar.Tony tells you in his books and seminars that when you put into practice what he teaches, "Life will never be the same". I can fully attest to that. I am living the life of my dreams. Tony ROCKS!---Harry

An Absolute Oasis
I realize referring to any book as an "oasis" sounds silly, but this particular book qualifies.I bought my first self-help book forty-eight years ago, when I was still in grade school. In college I first minored in philosophy, and then in psychology. I've read everything from classic self-help psych books to the most outrageous metaphysical self-improvement techniques. Oh, I've read and tried it all.I discovered Tony Robbins over twenty years ago, and really liked him. He seemed practical and made sense. After going through the Personal Power tape set three times, I lost track of Tony and got involved in other techniques. Last month I stumbled across his latest -- The Edge. While waiting for the CD set to be delivered, I read this book. It's terrific. "Notes From A Friend" is the Cliff's Notes of Tony Robbins' philosophy, and is presented with his contageous enthusiam. It's a quick read (about an hour), but is packed with good advice and humor.Of all I've devoured over the past forty-some years, Tony Robbins' material and the Life 101 series (now out of print) are simply the best. Like wise old friends.
