Will i also need a handle for the installation tool like a normal tap and die set or is a drill and 1/4 in. drill bit the only other thing i need?

Mine did not come with a handle for the installation tool. That (the tool) takes a handle like you would use for a tap (which you will need in any event, since you have to use the Helicoil tap to tap your hole).

The hole had screw thread M6x1, but the screw thread had stripped. Do I need this item to save the same size of screw thread?

Yes, this will leave you with a finished repair having M6x1.0 threads. It doesn't include a drill as it requires a 1/4", which is a common size.

Will this work for a M6x45 or M6x35 stud?

Those designations would normally refer to a fastener with a 6mm diameter, and 45mm/35mm lengths respectively. In metric threads, when a pitch isn't specified, the standard course pitch is implied, which for a 6mm fastener would be 1.0mm, so this would be the correct kit for those studs.In the case of a stud, there are a couple of considerations. If it is threaded into a blind hold, you need to make sure you don't thread the insert quite all of the way down, so that you can break off the drive tang. Because the tang needs to be bent away from the direction of insertion to snap off, if you bottom the insert out, it won't have anywhere to bend to, being against the bottom of the hole. Additionally, if the hole is deep, it's possible to put two inserts in back to back. In this case, after inserting the first and breaking the tang, insert a second, but again, be sure to not quite bottom it out against the first insert to give you clearance to break off the tang.

Do you need cutting oil when using this?

Not necessarily but, using cutting oil when performing a tapping operation is ALWAYS preferable. It helps keep the tap from galling and getting stuck in the hole. If it gets stuck, and you don't have the experience to know how much force to use, you can break the tap off in the hole. Then, you have a large and possibly expensive problem. If you are asking this question then it tells me that you should have a professional do the job for you. It may save you money, time, and frustration, in the long run. Someone else's experience is almost always cheaper than your mistakes.
