Received it a few days after purchase along with some other stuff and I am quite impressed with this product. :) - There is no software to download for this so you can just plug it in and do what you need to do with it. +1 - Feels quite nice and slick, has some weight to it so it doesn't feel cheap or hollow, aesthetics are quite nice aswell, has a little white light as soon as you plug it in to your PC and has the TOSHIBA logo in a glossy font. +1 - Detectable/compatible with Windows 8. +1 - The packaging is very nice, the internal packaging used for it is sort of an air-filled, plastic sleave. A bit like bubble-wrap, but chunkier and has air bars for the extra protection. +1 - Comes with a cable which is USB 3.0 and has a flat head. +1 - The cable is short, so you'll either need a longer cable of the same type or a USB extender. -1 - Instructions... I don't think you'll need 'em since the product is quite self-explanatory, just plug it in and save stuff. - It's cheap. +1 Well, I think that's about it, overall this is a genuinely nice product. It's got pretty much only one fault but shouldn't be enough to put you off. Feels great, looks great, does great, IS GREAT. I highly reccommend it.

I ordered the 500gb version a few days ago and it came very quickly despite only having the free super saver delivery. There is 465gb avalible for use and the speed is great. I am using it to hold a back up of my old laptop and some videos. It is super reliable and works everytime as soon as I plug it in Pros: Great Design, Very Fast, Reliable, Starts Really Quickly, Plenty of Storage, Fast Delivery and Great Price: Cons: Cable is a bit short and when you take it out of the box it takes a while it straighten out. When transfering lots of files certain file types slow it down to about 1mb per second.

Purchased this to use whilst editing videos because they take up too much room on my laptop. I edit from the hard drive and have never experienced any lagging issues and its never been slow. Perfect! Many people I know have the more expensive ones however for this price you cannot fault this hard drive. It does the same as the more expensive ones and works great. Its silent, and I like the basic look of it. Fits nicely into my handbag and I haven't had any problems with the wire and I've had the hard drive for a few months now. Only thing I had to do was format it to work with Mac which was easy and took a few minutes. Overall great hard drive and does exactly what its meant to do

This product is made in black plastic, measures about 11.5cm long x 7.5cm wide x 17mm thick and is supplied with a 50cm connecting lead (USB 3.0 one end, dual connector on the other end to plug into the HDD). It is ideal for data back up such as films and photos, is quiet in operation and has a power save mode which operates a few minutes after it detects no data is being transferred between the HDD and parent device (such as a computer or media player). A LED indicates when power is initially applied to the device and flashes when data is being transferred either in or out of the HDD. If the parent device (e.g. computer) can use USB 3.0 transfer then the benefit of using this HDD is very apparent - much faster than using a USB 2.0 HDD. I have two of these devices, the first has been in service for 6 months without a problem. The second device was purchased from Amazon recently and had a small problem in as much it kept 'waking up' from the power save mode from time to time (LED became lit for long periods) even without any data transfer. Toshiba recommended returning the item to Amazon. I contacted Amazon and the unit was rapidly replaced free of charge (about 3 weeks ago) and the replacement unit is behaving perfectly. If not for this small problem I would have awarded the product 5 stars. It does not come with a power supply which is fine when used with most computers. If connected to a media player (or other external device) which cannot supply enough current (this HDD requires 1 amp @ 5VDC) then it is necessary to use an external power supply and a splitter lead to enable power and data connections to be separated. My TV for example has a built in media player but could not supply enough current to use the HDD without the additional power supply. I bought an external power supply and splitter lead (all cheaply available from Amazon) and the problem was resolved. In summary a good quality HDD, very fast and presently available at a very competitive price from Amazon.

Great wee hard drive this is the second one I have bought. nice size the only problem some people might have is the USB cable is a bit short 44 cm long. all in all a nice compact & cheap hard drive for the price. I first bought two western digital hard drives but their slightly smaller than the size of a video tape & about the same thickness, they cost me £45 each. I have bought 2 of these hard drives the first one cost me £75 the second one I bought a few months later for £58 so the price is a little dearer, but I put that down to the fact that the WD ones are mains powered & not as compact but I would recommend this product to any one I will certainly be buying more in the future.

I got this product as I wanted a USB 3.0 external HD for faster transfer speed. Copied all my mp3 and files as a backup and I am really happy with the speed - it's great! The product comes in a windows standard NTFS format; so the first thing I did was to format the drive to FAT32 as I need to use it on my PlayStation3 as well. The HD feels robust and it feels like it can take my abuse :) although i'm not going to intentionally drop it!! I've purchased quite a few Toshiba HDs in the past and I'm very happy with their quality and reliability of their products. The only problem is I don't know what to do with my old ones as they're getting replaced by my newer purchases...

Excellent produit, comme tous les autres disques Toshiba de cette gamme d'ailleurs. J'en possède déjà un de 750Go pour la sauvegarde de mon PC portable, un de 1To et un autre de 1.5To pour stockage et transfert de divers fichiers. Comme je suis pleinement satisfait de ces acquisitions, et que ces disque fonctionnent très bien, c'est la raison pour laquelle je viens d'acheter ce nouveau disque Toshiba de 2To. Les tests en écriture que je viens d'effectuer sous "HD Tune" sont éloquents: 39,7Mo/s en USB2 et 116,4Mo/s en USB3. Les mêmes tests en écriture sous "HD Tune" sur le disque de 1To donnent les chiffres suivants: 39,5Mo/s en USB2 et 112;7 en USB3. En USB2, les chiffres sont quasi identiques, mais en USB3, net avantage au disque de 2To qui vu son épaisseur doit posséder un disque à multiples plateaux et donc des taux de transfert un peu plus élevés. La diode d'activité de ces disques s'allume en blanc lorsque ceux-ci fonctionnent en USB2 et en bleu lorsque ceux-ci fonctionnent en USB3. Dans les quelques commentaires que j'ai lu, certains acquéreurs se plaignent de la lenteur de ce disque pour accéder à leurs fichiers. Ces personnes oublient que plus un disque est gros, plus sa table d'allocation et son fichier d'indexation sont importants puisque celui-ci possède plus de secteurs pouvant stocker plus de fichiers. La vitesse de rotation de ces disques Toshiba étant la même, il faut logiquement plus de temps pour lire ces fichiers et donc plus de temps pour initialiser l'ensemble du disque. Une fois initialisé, en utilisation normale, ce disque est aussi rapide voire plus rapide qu'un disque de moindre capacité, car un disque de 2To possède nécessairement un cache plus important qu'un disque de 500Go et/où plusieurs plateaux permettant une vitesse plus importante en lecture/écriture. Je suis très satisfait de ce disque et le recommande particulièrement pour ses performances, son silence de fonctionnement et également pour son prix très attractif.

Hallo liebe Amazonler! Heute schreibe ich über die Toshiba Basics (Externe Festplatte) in der 500 GB Ausführung. Mein Kaufgrund war dieser, dass ich auf der Suche war nach einer Platte die mindestens einen halben TB an Speicher hat, möglichst klein ist und vor allem USB 3.0 unterstützt (da ich mit USB 2.0 sehr unzufrieden war / bin.) Dabei wollte ich am Preis nicht arm gehen, hier habe ich rund 45 Euronen für 500 GB bezahlt (also ca. 0,09 € pro GB) und bin im großen und ganzen mehr als zufrieden mit dem, was ich bekommen habe! Mir war auch wichtig, dass die Platte im Notfall auch mit USB 2.0 klar kommt, wenn ich mal bei einem Bekannten oder einem Freund bin - und dass ich sie flexibel einsetzen kann, das heißt dass ich keinerlei nervige Software installieren brauche wo ich mir wieder zig Toolbars und Features die die Welt nicht braucht einfange. Geliefert wurde die Platte wie von Amazon zu erwarten sehr schnell - gewohnter Service! Im Lieferumfang ist eben die Platte und ein USB 3.0 Kabel enthalten, welches auch an einem USB 2.0 Anschluss verwendet werden kann. Die Schreibgeschwindigkeit ist sehr gut, selbst am 2.0 Port werden gute Werte erzielt die vollkommen akzeptabel sind! So konnte ich rund 30 MB/s am USB 3.0 Port feststellen (nutze die hinteren Ports direkt am Mainboard, nicht von der Frontseite) Außerdem finde ich es gut, dass die Festplatte sehr leise arbeitet und nicht zu stark vibriert oder sonstiges, man sieht ebenfalls an einem blinkenden Lämpchen wenn die Platte gerade am arbeiten ist. Ich hatte ein mal einen Firmen Netzwerk mit der Platte gebackupped und hatte 5 Stunden mit der Platte zu tun, die Wärmeentwicklung ist top, sie ist nicht mal annähernd so warm geworden wie ich gedacht hätte. Wegen ihrer kleinen Größe passt sie auch in jede normale Schublade oder lässt sich auch in die Hosentasche stecken, wenn es denn schnell gehen soll! Mein Fazit: + Top Festplatte mit genügend Speicher (je nach Ausführung) + schneller Versand durch Amazon (wie gewohnt) + ausgezeichnete Schreibgeschwindigkeit am 3.0 USB-Port + geringe Wärmeentwicklung auch bei längeren Sitzungen + vom Format her klein gehalten, passt in fast jede Hosentasche :) - das Kabel könnte etwas länger sein, meine Festplatte muss immer auf meinem PC liegen oder eben auf dem Boden angelehnt Ich kann jedem nur raten diese Platte auszuprobieren, es gibt so viele verschiedene Platten, wieso mehr Geld ausgeben für schlechtere Qualität als ihr hier bekommen könnt :) ### Schlusswort ### Sollte euch meine Rezension gefallen haben, oder bei eurer Kaufentscheidung geholfen haben, so würde ich mich über einen kurzen Klick auf "Ja" freuen. Sono molto soddisfatto da questo hard disk; ottima qualità, economico, veloce e silenzioso. Dopo qualche mese ne ho comprato un altro per fare un regalo. 1. DIMENSIONI: Le immagine non rendono l'effettiva piccolezza di questo HD, è spesso poco meno di 1cm, ed è grosso poco più di un blocchetto di Post-it. Quindi è davvero perfetto per portarselo con sé senza problemi, infilandolo nella borsa del PC o addirittura in tasca. 2. DATI TECNICI: - Dimensioni: 1.000 GB sono il top. Ovviamente come su ogni memoria non avremo precisi 1000GB ma piuttosto 990GB circa. La cosa è normalissima. - Velocità: è USB 3.0 con cavo USB3.0 contenuto nello scatolino (lungo "solo" 30cm), fermo restando che si possono usare tutti i cavi USB-microUsb 2.0 che già avete (penso ai caricatori degli smartphone...) Grazie alla connessione USB3.0 e al cavetto originale contenuto nella confezione, la velocità di trasmissione dei file è impressionante! In condizioni eccellenti dovrebbe arrivare massimo a 3,2Gbit/s (ovvero 400MB/s). Ovviamente il cavetto 3.0 è retro-compatibile, dunque se il vostro PC non ha spine USB 3,0 (blu), non ci sarà nessuna tipologia di problema, avrete solo la velocità di trasferimento ridotta al formato 2.0. - MEMORIA HDD e SDD E' ovviamente un HARD DISK a disco, questo lo rendo più economico e meno prestante degli SSD, i quali a questo prezzo (60€) offrono al massimo 128GB. 1/10 più piccoli di questo. Le memoria SSD, rispetto agli HDD, sono più prestanti, più veloci nella trasmissione dati, più leggeri, reggono meglio gli urti quando in funzione e non sono per nulla rumorosi. Gli HDD invece, costano decisamente meno, seppur in dimensioni sono simili agli ssd risultano più pesanti, inoltre se in funzione, non solo emettono un leggerissimo rumore (appunto il disco che gira), ma bisogna stare attenti agli spostamenti; da qui un consiglio importantissimo: quando usate un HDD non muovetelo bruscamente! Potrebbe rovinarsi irrimediabilmente, al netto di questo però gli HDD (se tenuti con cura) tendono a durare molto di più rispetto agli SSD. PS: Questo modello ha un rumore decisamente silenzioso! 3. COMPATIBILITA': Ovviamente al primo uso è già pronto, fermo restando che per una compatibilità anche con MAC si deve formattare nel formato FAT32, cosa davvero semplice e veloce, oppure per maggiori performance è consigliabile lasciarlo così com'è, ovvero NTFS. Ovviamente se lo userete per riprodurre i contenuti su TV o altro, dovete controllare che l'entrata USB della TV sia in grado di leggere gli HDD NTFS (o i FAT) e quindi lo formattate di conseguenza. 4. CONTENUTO DELLA CONFEZIONE: La confezione contiene "solo" l'HardDisk e il cavo Micro-USB di tipo 3.0. Consiglio di comprare a parte un astuccio, io l'ho fatto spendendo pochi euro

L'un des meilleurs rapport qualité-prix parmi la gamme de HD externe de 1Go et plus. Esthétiquement, il est extrêmement sobre voir minimal, en effet cet aspect n'a volontairement pas été poussé afin de certainement réduire son coût de production (et donc de vente) et pouvoir proposer un produit à la fois performant et compétitif sur le marché. Sans être laid non plus, le Stor.E Basics joue plutôt la carte de la discrétion et du sérieux. Ses bords sont arrondies (afin de mieux protéger ses angles contre les chocs et privilégier une meilleure ergonomie/prise en main, et s'élèvent légèrement en biais (ce qui évite de lui donner un aspect "boîte", et pallie visuellement à son apparente simplicité). Silencieux et rapide (USB 3 ou USB 2), il se révèle très simple à installer (en général reconnu automatiquement aussi bien sur PC que sur Mac, où il apparait sur le bureau ou finder dès sa première connexion). Le câble USB fourni a une longueur raisonnable (environ 450 mm), ce qui lui permet de se brancher sans problème notamment en façade d'une tour. Le dessous du boitier est équipé de picot en gomme souple (type caoutchouc), qui lui confèrent un excellent maintien sur le support choisi, évitant ainsi que ce dernier glisse si par mégarde on butait dedans ou encore de rayer la surface sur laquelle il repose. Solide et équipé d'un capteur de choc, le revêtement extérieur (granuleux) a également été pensé pour éviter les dépôts de poussière et les traces de doigts. Enfin, sa capacité originale de 1,5 To permet une large gestion de fichiers et de données, le tout contenu dans un boitier compact et pour sensiblement le même prix qu'un 1 To. Pour ce qui est de la fiabilité et de son utilisation sur le long terme, cela reste encore à vérifier, mais en règle générale la marque Toshiba qui bénéficie d'une grande expèrience dans le domaine, est un gage de sérieux. A recommander aux personnes dotées d'un petit budget et à la recherche d'une HD solide et de grande capacité.

Die Platte in 1,5 TB Größe hat ja eher weniger Rezensionen und diese sind auch nicht immer positiv. Zu Unrecht ! PRO: ==== - Absolut schlichtes raues Gehäuse welches auch dem harten Einsatz unterwegs standhält. Was soll ich mit Klavierlack und Muster ala WD ? - Leiser als alle Platten (mind. 2 Jahre alt) die hier so rumliegen. Ein Grundrauschen ist vernehmbar, aber das muss so sein - Status LED: Wurde noch kein einziges Wort hier drüber verloren ! Angenehme LED im Deckel, die je nach USB Anschluss ihre Farbe wechselt (USB 2 = weiß, USB 3 = blau) - HDD hat USB 3.0, damit halbiert sich meine Kopierzeit (zusammen mit ASRock Xfast USB) - Gummierte Füße auf der Unterseite - Mitgeliefertes USB Kabel ist nicht mehr 2 Adrig sondern hat nur noch einen USB Stecker. Die Zeiten von Stromunterversorgung an ext. HDD's sind wohl vorbei... Finde ich persönlich platzsparender. Die Kabellänge ist i.O und reicht auch bis zum USB meines LG TV's - Platte ist formatiert mit vollen 1,5 TB und wurde auch am Mac per Tuxera sofort erkannt und beschrieben = sehr gut ! - Geht schnell in den Sleep Modus, gerade unterwegs im Akkubetrieb des Laptops sinnvoll - Die Kritik am Kabel und am Anschluss kann ich nicht nachvollziehen. Solch einen fest-sitzenden Anschluss wie hier habe ich noch an keiner externen gesehen (muss wohl eine Revision 2.0 sein, anders kann ich mir die anderen Rezensionen nicht erklären). Ich stecke die HDD regelmäßig um und hatte noch keine Bedenken, hier ein neues Kabel kaufen zu müssen. CONTRA: ======= - Platte kann ihre volle Geschwindigkeit erst unter USB 3.0 wirklich sinnvoll entfalten; USB 2.0 Übertragungsgeschwindigkeit ist bei der Konkurrenz (WD, Seagate) minimal besser FAZIT: ====== Thema Haltbarkeit = Tja schwer vorauszusehen, spätestens wenn die HDD abgeraucht ist, werde ich es hier schreiben Ich bin absolut zufrieden mit der Platte. Wollte erst für das selbe Geld eine WD mit 1 TB kaufen. Hier bekomme ich ebenfalls Qualität mit mehr Speicherplatz für's gleiche Geld. Die Platte ist schön schlicht und kann auch ohne Bedenken in der Laptop-Tasche mitgenommen werden. Würde dieses Modell wieder kaufen !
