Really 8mm
I have a 3018CNC Reprap (Sainsmart) machine that had too much play in the Z-axis. When I measured the guide rods on the machine, they were three thousandths of an inch undersize. These Feyrinx rods arrived in two days, were the correct dimension, and corrected my problem when installed.

Good Rods for 3D Printers
It is what it says: A 8mm diameter metal rod. It arrived really well packaged, sealed in a plastic sleeve, wrapped in bubble cushioning, sandwiched in foam, and boxed in cardboard. Needless to say that they are straight as it can be. The surface is even with no nicks. The ends are cut with a saw and not on a lathe, which is more of a finishing touch than a technical detail. Five stars for a good product. I hope it helps to make a decision.
