It Keeps You Dry.
Honestly, I think the rainfly should automatically come with the tent. That being said, I have to say that If you have this Type of Coleman instant tent, you should think about investing in the rainfly. Now I have to admit, I have never tried the tent in the rain without the fly. However, with the fly it is going to keep you dry. We have used the tent quite a bit before using it in the rain. We got caught up however in a big storm. Thunder, lightning, big gusts of wind, and a lot of rain. In the morning we inspected the damage. There was none. There was only a very small puddle on the floor. We actually chalked that up to not being on level ground as exactly where the puddle was there was an indentation in the ground. It probably collected water. Everything else in the tent was completely dry. It fits quite nicely over top of the polls in the tent. This gives you a bit of space between the roof and the fly. Good for ventilation. Again if you have the Colman instant Tent 14 x 10 I recommend investing in the rainfly. If you found this review helpful, please click the "yes" button below.

Finnaly got one
This fit my tent perfectly. Just make sure you order the right one because their are different sizes that look the same. I had to look at the tag on my tent and get the product number just to verify that it was the right match. One person can put this on but it is a lot easier with two people. The straps are good quality and I feel this is going to last the life of the tent if not longer. I ditched the little bag it came with because If I fold the tent tight enough this fits along side the tent in the original tent bag. Rant: I would have liked this fly to have been included with the original tent. I realize the tent is ready for rain without the fly and i've used the tent without the fly on a couple of occasions in moderate rain and snow without any problems but what I realized after using the tent since 2009 is that the top of the tent is exposed to a lot of natural elements that over time will age and weather the top of the tent. I noticed even if i cleaned the top after every camping trip the tree sap, bird poop, embedded dirt and grim would not come completely off plus the exposure to sun that has faded the top. If i really wanted to get all that stuff completely off it would require soap and scrubbing which in turn will scrub off any water proofing chemicals and also wear down the material. I like the rainfly because its a added layer of protection from all the elements that find its way on top of your tent after a trip of camping. especially if your in the forest under pine trees that drip a lot of sap or at the beach where it gets baked in the sun.

Worked perfectly
[Edit for rainy use 05/25] Finally got to try it in the rain and it worked perfectly instead of a ton of puddles in my tent and dripping coming from condensation at the top. The top kept the tent dry and i only ended up with a very small condensation puddle from the walls. Which is on me for not resealing my tent last summer. Wasnt able to try it in the rain, but I can say it was money worth spent already, in the sunny mornings it helped keep the tent dim enough I could sleep longer, in the cold nights it helped keep the heat of my lantern in. And it was easy to put on/take off my tent alone.

Ez up puffy down. Quick.
I have used this for over a year now. Setup could not be easier. I am disappointed it did not come with the rainfly as no one should own it without it. It is heavy but I car camp so getting it there is not an issue. The bag it comes in is large and can be reused easily unlike most that dont fit unless factory packed. I like that it has clips by the handles of the bag. These come in handy when attaching the rainfly to it for storage and when in a hurry and I dont want to zip the bag closed. I found when taking it down that it is best to leave two windows opposite eachother unzipped. This prevents the marshmallow effect where the tent puffs out and is hard to fold up. You also need to watch your fingers as I have pinched mine a few times now. My first trip I set this up in the dark alone in under 5 min. The rainfly is tricky with one person which is why it took so long. I removed 1 star because the storage bag did rip on one end over the last year. It is still usefull but should not have ripped at the seam. I have also had some trouble with the door zippers since day 1. No matter how i stake it down the zipper sticks in 2 places one on the bottom and another near the turn on the door. I reached a point where I rarely open it past these points now. I have camped in rain wind snow and nice days. The worst wind was about 40ish mph with higher gusts. I did not sleep well but the tent held up. I staked the tent down and tied down the rainfly and tent as you are supossed to. Tent made it fine. The rainfly had a tendancy to disconnect the clips and flap around a lot on the corner after a big gust. It still held on due to the stakes but was annying blowing around at the end. It is important to note that this does not risk getting the tent wet but it does mean you have something loose flapping around. I wish there was some cover when you exit the door in the rain but I was willing to sacrifice that for the ability to stand up inside at more than one point and ease of setup. I now bring an umbrella so i can get out without too much rain getting in. When the zipper sticks this is an issue with 1 hand. I managed to lose the ties to secure the tent and now use sleeping bag clips which I find much easier to use than the ties it came with. The easy setup means i actually come home and set it up to dry out instead of just laying it out. I think this has helped to make it last. Good product. A few minor things I would change but more that I would not. I will replace with a similar one if I ever need to.

A great buy for a larger family of weekend warriors
I purchased this for my family of 5. You can actually fit at least 6 adult sized people (normal height/build) with no issues. Anything more than that and there is no space for anything else. I also purchased the rain fly because it only rains on weekends here in AZ. Pros: Super easy to setup, takes about 1-2 mins max + time to hammer down stakes Spacious Lots of windows for circulation The bag is actually big enough to somewhat easily pack the tent back into after use! You have to tear away a "break away" expansion to make the bag big enough. You will see what I mean when you see the bag. Quick takedown Great rain resistance (nothing is rain proof so if you have enough rain long enough it will probably leak) Good floor material, very thick. Cons: Heavy (35lbs?) so don't plan on hiking this thing around You have to use 2 hands to get the zipper open/closed because the wall just isn't tight enough and the zipper will get caught in the zipper flap cover. I would highly recommend this to the weekend warrior types.

Bought 6 person tent fly for 4 person tent - works just fine
So, this amazing tent comes with no rainfly, ok, I had to buy it separately. This is a flat top tent, who wouldn't buy a rainfly? Without it, the tent could potentially leak. All of the 4 person tent rainflies that would fit the Coleman instant tent were sold, so I bought the one for the six person tent and it fits just fine because the design of the tent rainfly is perfect, it snaps to the poles and also has ties downs. I can set this tent up in one minute, take it down and store it in the bag in two minutes. Oh, and people, WATERPROOF YOUR TENT! Every year if needed. I used Scotchguard for tents (two cans needed), but there are many products out there. When you spray your hose on the rainfly and your tent, the water should bead, see pictures. People who wrote that this tent leaks (duh, it is made of fabric)... you have to be smart and prepared. You will need a separate tarp underneath (tuck in all the edges under your tent) and buy tent poles and tie this tent down, it is very light weight. Enjoy!

You can set this large tent up by yourself
I have owned a lot of tents in my life with over 20 years of camping. This is buy far one of the best for the price and I can set it up myself. It actually blew over once night at the lake while sitting empty and the next morning it was upside down. I figured I had ruined it after only one month consistent use. But once I got it home and set it back up it was fine. A couple of leaks, but that is without the fly on. It has been set up in my backyard for 3 months now, and is going strong. Back to my first use: camping for 3 weeks can put strain on any tent. I did have issues with the zippers at time, having to hold another part of the tent in order to easily open the zipper. This could be impacted by lack of sleep/alcohol, but it sure does piss me off when I can get in or out fast enough! Anyway, This tent stood up to some of the worst storms I have ever experienced while camping. Good thing I had it weighted down with s***, I didn't blow away, but I tell you the whole thing was shaking and rolling, it felt like I was inside a drum the storm was so bad. the next day, several other tents were damaged during the storm but not mine. This happened 3 times during that outing and my stuff was dry the whole time. I did put the rain fly on after the first storm!

A must have buy !
Absolutely outstanding addition to my Coleman tent, should have been available in the UK from day one. When the bad weather strikes it stops rain or snow collecting on the top of the tent then dripping through, as has happened before. A must have buy !!!

A MUST HAVE!
I tried it out for the fitting one day but I havent tested it on a camping trip yet. I just had to have it because last year I had a tarp and it blocked the vent and kept the tent wet inside and we couldn't breath, it was awkward with too many cords everywhere. But I just know this is what it takes to enjoy the tent. I have much confidence in Coleman Products as I have been buying coleman for years. It fits perfectly, no tripping on cords or bloking airvents. By the way the instant tent is really great and it literally takes 1 minute to set up. There are cool videos on youtube. Fits 14 x 10 ft Coleman Instant 8 tent
Only issue is that it's brown, while my tent is Grey / Blue.
