What is the size of this cover? Thanks.

Hi Frank, this strap is 8 inches long, and 4 inches wide at its widest point. Hope this helps.

what's the difference between black and black v.1?

There is no difference between the two versions. The v1 listings are the older listings, while the non-v1 listings were created more recently. They are the exact same product.

Can you tell me the width of the strap where it attaches to the mask please? My mask has narrow buckle.

This is not a strap, but rather it's a strap cover. It won't replace a broken strap. You may want to look at a slap strap:http://www.amazon.com/Original-Slap-Strap-Scuba-Snorkeling/dp/B008PTRCCW/ref=sr_1_18?s=sporting-goods&ie=UTF8&qid=1402880739&sr=1-18&keywords=slap+ straps

How do you thread the mask strings thru the head band please?

My strap cover has a pocket in it. I threaded the mask strap into one side of the pocket and out the other side. I did nothing w the slits in the strap cover.
