Why is thumb stud so small?

The thumb stud is too large to squeeze the finger position, resulting in poor opening. The current size is standard in our factory.

Would you be able to take the breaker from this one and install it on the actual Medford scout liner lock without the breaker?

It appears that the glass breaker can be removed by taking the knife apart. I can not say whether it would fit the Medford as I do not have one to compare the size and screw holes to.
