it doesn't slip off the jar, or mug, or whatever
I bought this for camping. I have quite a few coffee drippers: a Chemex, a glass V60, a ceramic V60, a stainless steel V60 with fine mesh (so you're not supposed to need a filter). They all work great except for that last one (which is horrible - it gets clogged after every use no matter the grind and no matter how well you clean it). But, all of those are too bulky for camping, so I wanted to try this one out. And I've got to say, it's perfect. It's light, it's compact, and it does the job well. I even use the same 02 V60 filters that I use for everything else. Also, I never brew just one cup at a time (my wife and I drink at least a cup and a half each), meaning when I make coffee with this thing I'm making a full pot. That's right, it can handle large batches so long as you are careful (it'll drip out the side a bit at first if you don't start slow. I know it's just a simply formed piece of stainless steel, but it's design is perfect and it's quality is good. And, it's become a huge improvement to our camping gear. Oh, and it doesn't slip off the jar, or mug, or whatever. I think that's due to the 3-leg support design, rather than only having two supports, like I've seen on other models (where there were complaints of it slipping off the cup).

Outstanding Pour Over Brewer
I own a number of pour over brewers from Hario, Chemex, Clever, Kalita and Rok. This one is THE BEST because it makes the most consistent high quality brews. The fact that it has very little mass allows more heat to stay in the grounds rather than allowing heat to be constantly transferred to the body of the brewer. More consistent heat means a more consistent extraction. You could say the best brewer is no brewer. And this is as close to no brewer as you can get without a truly rube goldberg type of arrangement with lab equipment and bungee cords. Yes I'm that guy. The unit is high quality and imparts no flavor. It's very light and portable. It's easy to clean. And it reminds me of a slinky. :) You can use the smaller or larger Hario cone filters in it. The larger size, 02, may be a bit easier to finagle into position. Design-wise it's minimalist in a Marie Kondo fashion. Yes, this is the pour over brewer you are looking for.

Very sturdy and compact.
I purchased for our RV. First time using this pour over gadget . My husband likes instant coffee I’d prefer fresh coffee, this is perfect. I was worried it would be flimsy but it’s not. Love that it folds away and easy to clean: And being its in an RV I wanted to use coffee filters for easy cleanup not wanting coffee grinds going into my grey tank from rinsing out a metal coffee filter. I normally use course ground coffee for my percolator coffee pot but ran out so I used really fine coffee grounds that I found in my kitchen . I would recommend not using really fine coffee grounds, I did notice some grounds in my coffee. Not the pour over coffee cones fault more the coffee filter. Just a heads up. I’m very happy with this purchase.

Absolutely love it!
When camping, backpacking,or at home, there are various options for that critical morning cup of coffee. Percolator, French press, cowboy, instant (ugh), bripe (sort of mate like),etc. I prefer the pour over method at home and while camping. There are several pour over options but in my opinion, the Soto is best. It's lightweight (50 grams on my scale, 51 with filter), simply designed, pretty stable, easy to clean (rinse with water), compact when stored, and compatible with the leave no trace principle. When done, just set filter in the cone aside to dry for a while, then pack with trash or dispose of properly. No grounds left behind. In addition, if you want to make a second cup, just add some more coffee and reuse the old coffee and filter. Finally, there's the aesthetic of a non-plastic, durable, simple, beautiful piece of gear. It's a pleasure to look at, not just to use. I first used it on a camping trip last week with my kids and it was a delight. Absolutely love it!

Simple and effective
Exactly what it advertises: easy, universal pour-over coffee into any vessel that has an opening the size of a wide mouth jar or smaller, so basically any drinking glass/mug/whatever. Holds a paper filter in place with no issues of it falling through or spilling coffee grounds. Made in Japan out of stainless steel so it seems like it should last for a lifetime. With this and an appropriate kettle you can completely eliminate any plastic from the process.

Great for travel with Hario filters!
I bought this for travel, as it packs small and flat, which is great. Clever design, and is one of the few collapsible coffee drippers on the market that fits cone shapped Hario paper filters, as opposed to Melita filters that have a straight edge/seam on the bottom. It is also the most compact for travel that I have found...it folds up small and completely flat, so barely takes up any room in a backpack or suitcase. The size 2 Hario filters fit a bit large in the dripper, it's really designed for size 1, but size 2 does work fine. As others have reported, the bottom of the filter does hang down an inch or so below the bottom of the dripper, so it does tend to sag into the cup, but I usually use a tall enough cup that this isn't too much of a problem, but a simple design tweak of making the bottom coil a bit smaller in diameter would likely fix the problem. I haven't tried using it for camping, but I could see that heat retention in cold weather would be a problem, as others have also reported. For indoor use, this is not much of a problem. My biggest complaint is the price...$20 seems a bit steep for what is essentially probably no more than $1 worth of stainless steel wiring, but with no viable alternative on the market for Hario filter users like me who want a collapsible cone dripper for travel, I am very glad that this item exists!

Exceeded expectations
Wasn't really sure how well this would work, but it's great. Pops into shape, holds filter well, and the stores completely flat. Great for camping and backpacking. (I have a ceramic one I use at home, but this would work well enough for home use, too.)

Not Over-engineered... Works Beautifully
Great for camping... lightweight, easy to stow and easy to clean. Coffee tasted great and no issues with temperature as some mentioned. The price is a little steep for what it is but I can't argue that it does a great job checking all the boxes and for half the cost of a Pourigami. I used #2 filters I already had so no comment on supplied filters.

Love how basic it is
This is the best basic pourover tool. It does exactly what you need to do. It's almost invisible in terms of weight.

Excellent product, stupid price.
Yeah, it's actually great, and I wasn't going to buy one of the many knock-offs from eBay, but why the price tag? It's a bit of wire bent into a cone shape. Real coffee out on the hills though, that's something. Would recommend.
