Culinary use aside, I purchased this for accurately measuring magnet weights and forces, for rotating equipment. The thing that really attracted my attention was the USB serial port. Have not used that facility yet, but eventually I plan to log readings to a computer so I can perform automatic selection and balancing (which is too complex and tedious for hand calculation). So far I have just been testing it with random objects. For example, weigh an avocado and a pineapple. Then, put both items on the scale and make sure it adds up correctly. Obvious, really. Anyway, it performs according to specification. About 90% of the time it reads within +/-20mg, sometimes there is an outlier of 50mg. Given the full scale reading of about 2kg, 20mg is 10ppm which is pretty amazing when you think about it. You *will* need to read the manual, though. The 7-seg display is not very intuitive if you want to use some of the more fancy modes, like making sure your pet rat sticks to his diet.

Excellent class 1 lab grade balance for the money. Auto cal can take a while at startup but worth the wait for traceability. Bought a set of Treomner traceable weights and the accuracy of the balance was excellent down 10mg (the lowest weight in the set). Assembly was easy. Sliding doors aren’t totally smooth but again for money totally livable. Plenty of warnings in the box about the dangers of overloading the load cell which is always good to see. Put them up in the lab so hopefully the newbies don’t wreck it!

It's very costly on time to have to sit there and watch it recalibrate itself every few minutes and give you an error code. Otherwise it works fine. I would recommend buying a different brand though. Very inaccurate balance at that, even though it allegedly goes down to 4 decimal places. The weights vary drastically up to +/-0.01g. Definitely recommend purchasing a different brand. Definitely isn't a balance that works in a laboratory setting.
