Works very well , has been around a long time because it works .
I like a few types of media because they simply work great and this is one of them but do not have a favorite . I do the same thing with all which is rinse in cold tap water , let them sit 2 days in container of cold tap water then rinse it out and place in filter , I do this because even with the most delicate shrimp , etc I have found does not in any way change PH . Either way after the 2 days I just plop this in filter and replace in couple of months or so.

Last a long time
Probably some of the best chemical media on the market, although I don't use much Chemical still this is a good option if you want to clear up cloudiness, medication etc...

Great media for my aquarium to rid of impurities :)
Great filter media. I used this for my canister filter on my 75G cichlids tank. Very effective. Lasts 3 to 6 months.

Good product
My local fish stores swears by this - I don't have a reef tank but a freshwater tank. Fits in my Eheim Canister filter (I have the small Pro3) alongside the biomedia. I run a pretty intense tank with lots of fertilization, high light, CO2, lots of food (many plecos) and a fair amount of mulm and organic debris from the large number of live plants. This helps keep my water clear and in balance. I can't say exactly how much this contributes to the health of my tank but I will continue to use it as a safety net. I also ran Purigen for a while but it was getting expensive given the size of my tank, so I'm saving the Purigen for my smaller tanks that also have a discoloration issue (from the driftwood) and instead use Chemi-Pure in my larger display tank.

Make sure to do water changes soon after initial use
The directions for this product tells you to rinse it lightly before adding to your tank. Following that advice, however, will leave some 'dust' in the medium when it goes into your tank. I use this stuff in my fish-only/invertibrate tanks, but I noticed that if I don't do water changes in about a week, the fish start to act weird (my fox face would dart suddenly, flash its dorsal fins a lot, and generally had stressed darkened colors) and my coral beauty starts to develop lateral line disease. I believe the root cause to be the residual dust this product puts into the water. As a habit, I don't do weekly water changes on my tank because the only downside in a fish-only tank is a rise in nitrates, which is not particularly dangerous for most fish/inverts, so the dust from this product would stay in the tank for a few weeks and cause the above issues over time. Every time we took the coral beauty out and put it in the sump of a reef tank we have that DOES get frequent water changes, the lateral line disease would disappear. It would reappear when put back in the fish-only tank. I have found that if I do water changes more frequenly than usual at first after replacing this filter material, the dust problem goes away and the product does what I need it to do (eliminate algae). It's a good product, just make sure to do a water change within a week if you don't do that anyway, and then probably the week after....beyond that, you can probably get away with bi-weekly or less water changes until you replace it again. The coral beauty has been fine ever since and the foxface has settled down and seems much more comfortable in the tank since ive done as described. If you have a habit of doing weekly water changes, this won't be an issue at all.

Stabilizes PH and Clears Water
I recently restarted my aquarium after several years, and I was having issues with fluctuating PH, which was resulting in stressed fish. I added ChemiPure to my filter and it stabilized the PH at 7.0, my fish are healthy now and not stressed, and the water is crystal clear. The only downside to this product is the size. I have a 70-gallon tank, and I need to cram it into the filter around my other filter media. However, that is a small price to pay for a stable tank.

Been using this product for 38 years!
In the mid 80's I had 2 saltwater aquariums and Boyds Chemipure was my favorite carbon based filter media. I now keep a 65 Gallon tank of freshwater fish and Chemipure remains my "go to" carbon based filter media. It would be embarrassing to tell you how long I go between water changes, but always have crystal clear water, thriving plants and haven't lost more the 1 fish a year. (in 2018 this tank started with 22 fishes it now has 16) But because the fish are much larger now I have no plans to make any additions

Clear in 7 days
I had been having trouble with cloudy water for two months. Tried everything I could think of till a friend told me about this product. Water turned clear after approximately seven days. Great product as far as I’m concerned!
