BEBIRD R1 Ear Wax Removal Tool:Ear Cleaner with HD Ear Camera FSA, Black

I got this because while in med school, learning to do ear exams a classmate mentioned I had a big buildup of dark, dried wax in one ear. I slept for years with one earbud in because I was an EMT and needed the earplug effect. I never noticed any hearing issues in that ear, so it was never an issue. So I got this to see if I could maybe visualize and get it out, and holy heck did it 1.) work great, but 2.) it's... WAY better at visualizing the ear canal and tympanic membrane than my multi-hundred dollar professional otoscope. It was a little painful getting deep enough with the right tip to hook the clump of wax, but once I did (the clear tip was the key) it pulled the whole thing out in one go. It was impressively large for how it didn't impact my hearing at all. Going back in with the soft tip of the scope and no tool, I was able to visualize the tympanic membrane super clearly with the bones beneath, the redness and irritation of the ear canal caused by scraping that clump out, it's shockingly clear. Again, I'd say this is a better overall image than my professional optical otoscope with how bright and clear the image is. Connectivity was good, it wasn't perfect and would occasionally hiccup and pause for a second, but when it happens you just don't move and it's no big deal. You shouldn't be going anywhere near your eardrum anyways. For the price I genuinely can't call it a drawback, with what you're getting. There are some $50 optical otoscopes on amazon that claim to be for parents who want to look in their kids' ears. This is 1000x better. You as a layperson can easily get an incredible image of your kid's (or own) ears, nose, and throat. If you're going after earwax, first use the soft tip with the biggest nozzle you can fit, and then visualize what you're dealing with before you put a tool on, because the tool does re-focus the image to be right where the tool tip is, and at first you want to see as deep as you can. Then go back in the the tool and be gentle, because the ear canals are very sensitive. Avoid pushing any wax back in, because if you impact the eardrum, that's a trip to an ENT doctor. Honestly if it wouldn't get me mocked in school and it had replaceable tips I would unironically use this over my professional Reister. I know there are professional digital otoscopes but for like $25... this is insane.

Let’s be honest: I did not expect to have strong opinions about otoscopes. Yet here we are. If you’ve ever gone down the rabbit hole of “why does my ear feel weird” and ended up buying a camera to investigate, then this comparison will save you some time, and possibly some mild disappointment. I’ve used both the Kodee digital otoscope and the Bebird otoscope, and the difference between them is not subtle. The Kodee is… fine. It works. It shows you inside your ear, which is technically the entire point. But the experience feels a little clunky. You’re dealing with a cord, which somehow always manages to be in the way at the worst possible angle, and the image quality is just okay. Not terrible, not impressive—just kind of “yep, that’s an ear.” If you’re not picky, it’ll get the job done. Now the Bebird? Completely different story. First of all, Bluetooth connectivity. No cord dangling around while you’re trying not to poke your own brain. You just connect it to your phone, and you’re good to go (aside from charging, obviously, because we can’t escape that part of life). That alone makes it feel 10x more user-friendly. But the real win is the camera quality. The Bebird gives you a super clear, detailed view—like, “wow, I didn’t realize I needed to see this much detail inside my ear” level of clarity. It’s actually useful, not just functional. You can clearly see what you’re doing instead of guessing based on a slightly blurry image and vibes. Going back to the Kodee after using the Bebird honestly feels like a downgrade. It’s not unusable, it just feels… subpar in comparison. Like using an old phone camera after you’ve upgraded—you can do it, but why would you want to? Bottom line: if you’re just casually curious, Kodee is fine. If you actually want a smooth experience and a clear view of what you’re doing, Bebird is 100% the better choice. I purchased this item after careful research online. I am a retired physician, but not an ENT specialist. I bought it because I have several grandchildren and one member of my family developed ear problems and I wanted to keep track of them. Overall, the unit works well. It is easy to turn on and connect to the phone. The light is strong and the image is very good. It can be tricky orienting oneself right/left and up/down. It can also be a bit tough to watch the screen while looking in someone else's ear Be aware that your phone may detect that there is no internet connection from the Bebird wifi signal and seek to use the carrier connection to stay online. In that case, you might not be able to make a connection between the unit and your phone. I dealt with this by turning on Airplane mode. Just don't forget to turn it off again later. Having said all this, I want to emphasize that I do not recommend using this or any device like it for actual wax removal. I personally use it only for viewing. I do not use the instruments except for the speculum, which helps view the ear with less risk of injuring delicate tissue. The ear canal contains just about the thinnest skin on the body and it is easily injured by a foreign object. I can almost guarantee that continued use of the tools will cause you trouble. In addition, you are bound to find some wax. I don't recommend its removal if it is not affecting your hearing. Wax serves an important role in the healthy ear and the normal ear slowly dislodges the wax itself. I don't recommend literally "looking for trouble". If you wish to be able to look in your own ear or your family's and then be able to refer or report to a qualified caregiver, this is a good item to have. Meanwhile, put nothing smaller than your elbow in your ear canal. Old advice and still true.

OMG!! This is a lifesaver. I took my mom to the doc to get ears cleaned left one blocked, they couldnt flush out so we used debrox drops for a few days, I bought this and OMG, I was able to get a hold of the earwax and pull out a huge blockage. It was super simple to load on my phone just scanned the barcode on the insert downloaded app and went to wifi, chose bebird and it was ready. It is super clear and magnified, I then tackled my own ears and unblocked my left ear that was blocked for over a year! Be super careful how gentle and far you put this in, go slow and you may need to losen by using debrox drops first or a bulb and squirt some warm water in a few times for that difficult wax. THis is a total game changer, best thing I've ever bought!!

Before going further, it should be pointed out that you're inserting a mechanical device into your ear that can potentially touch and do damage to your ear drum. This is not a device that should be handled casually. The same can be said for Q-Tips, Clinere ear wax tools, etc. I'm not singling out the BEBIRD device. The safest method for DIY ear wax removal is still a liquid product - Debrox and others. Nuff said. The BEBIRD app in the Apple app store states that this is designed for the iPad but doesn't state that it's compatible with the iPhone. I tried with my iPad, no issues. Download the app from the Apple App Store, open the app, power on the BEBIRD device, go to your wifi settings in the iPad, connect to BEBIRD wifi. Done. No issues whatsoever. With my iPad, the output displays in portrait mode only, not landscape. This doesn't affect functionality and isn't a problem but maybe worth pointing out. I tried connecting using my iPhone but it didn't seem to want to connect. I haven't troubleshot this so probably due to something I overlooked. Apparently others have used iPhones with no issues. Here's the cool part: if you have a Mac, the app store says that the app hasn't been verified for macOS but it installed and worked perfectly, as easily as with my iPad. I'm currently using macOS Tahoe v.26.1. I now have a 23" external monitor displaying the deepest recesses of my inner ear in all it's glory and horror. Much easier to use and with a lot of screen, easier to see what you're dealing with. BEBIRD states that it's compatible with Android. A quick search found that there seems to be an app available for Windows too. I'd suggest downloading it ONLY if it's from the Microsoft Store and Google Play store, not side load it from sources that may or may not be trustworthy. At this price point I didn't have high expectations but my skepticism proved to be unfounded. The resolution is far better than you'll need to get he job done. Individual hairs display clearly, look like giant trees in a dark and haunted forest from the perspective of the camera. Waxy areas are easy to make out and the color separation decent. I imagine that you could use this for more than just ears - light repairs/projects in the house and car where you need an extra few inches of visibility to peer into areas that are otherwise inaccessible. The possibilities are almost endless. As with many other products you'll find in Amazon, it's available from multiple suppliers with various brand names. Given that the scopes appear to be virtually identical and distinguished only by the tools and supplies they ship with, I'd guess that they're manufactured by the same entity/manufacturer, sold to resellers who brand them with their names and then kit them out the way they want. Amazing device at this price point. I didn't have high expectations but was pleasantly surprised. Worth every penny of the $24.00 paid. It wasn't so long go that a device like this might cost hundreds of dollars.

Short summary: The camera and additional pieces were fantastic and great for capturing HD photos and keeping an eye on things in the ears/nose/throat ENT stuff you may have going on. Unfortunately, mine stopped working very soon after getting it, though I did get at least one good use. I'm trying to get it to work or exchanged, currently. Thorough review / more details: Camera - The camera quality was amazing! Way better than my last one! I'll put comparison photos in the attached, but i'll also compare the two by name below if you want to skip the images. Tool attachments - It comes with a soft safety cover for looking up your nose and your ears, and even has a tongue depressor for looking in your mouth. The attachments for tool usage screw on which feels safer to me than my previous one that I slipped a little silicone cover on (which the metal broke through at one point after much use - I don't think that will be an issue with these attachments.) I was able to safely get a good view of my eardrum, comfortably up my nose to get a clear view of the middle turbinate. There are manual accessories but they are hard/metal/etc so please be careful if you use them. Use case - My symptoms I checked on were my itchy ear canals, trouble breathing through my nose, and wisdom teeth coming in late. For my nose, I have allergies (treated/managed) and always feel \stuffy and wondered if my previous diagnosis of deviated septum applied, or something else going on, to have my own view and clear photos to compare to different doctor opinions on my nose situation. I found a doctor site with different condition photos that are the same style as what we see with the app here so I was able to compare myself. For my ears, with this higher quality camera I was able to see more detail and how incredibly red my ear canals are, but otherwise don't see any issues I can identify. I have hearing loss but I don't know enough to judge based on the view of my eardrum, just that I was able to get a good look with this product and get photos. For the mouth tool, I got a high quality close up look at my wisdom tooth breaking through my gums. It'll be helpful in monitoring to see when I have to get surgery and have them removed, because currently I am prioritizing other things. I love having this to keep an eye on stuff myself. Beta tools - I didn't have a chance to try them before it stopped working, but they are interesting to me. Comfort/safety - The attachments for the top seem like a better design than the previous one I had. I don't think they will fall off easily and feel safe in that regard. However, they are not as soft as the silicone tips from the last one I had. Battery/connectivity - It started having issues after the first use. Even though it said it had over 60% battery, and I checked the troubleshooting notes in the user guide, none of that mattered and it turned off unless i was actively holding the button. Customer service - I tried reaching out to customer service through the app and just received an automated initial response that reappeared as the most previous message whenever it refreshed. Something strange along those lines / unhelpful. It also gave the option to attach videos but wouldn't actually send them, from what I could tell (even short 6 second ones.) Return/Exchange/Refund - I am going to try charging it fully and if it still doesn't work, I will attempt an exchange first because of the superior camera quality and attachments. If I still have issues, I will try to find a comparable product or try customer service again. Comparing two products - the previous one I had (which I guess isn't on Amazon anymore but still) was from the company LEIPUT, and the app for it was 'Suear' (with an ear as the app icon.) This BEBIRD product app is 'bebird' (has a hummingbird icon.) My previous tool I had for 6 months before it stopped working. This one I had one or two days... but I do like the product more so I'm hoping I can figure it out / have a working one. I have a 6 second video of the current issue i'm having with this product in the attached to this review if anyone wants to see it. My recommendation for use - Definitely do not go closer to the eardrum than in my photo, and I only went that close with the safety attachment (black and soft silicone, not the firmer screw-on tool for getting earwax, the one just for looking.) For the nose, it's probably not good to go past the middle turbinate. Getting a good look at mine with the safety attachment is about as far as I felt comfortable going for a view in my nose. For a better look at any of these, or if you have any concerns, see an ENT doctor (Ear Nose Throat doctor). Note that if you are concerned about money and live in the US, there is likely a financial assistance program in place that will provide a discount proportionate to your FPL (Federal Poverty Level / income.) I do like this product but it's for extra insight, not replacing proper medical care :) I hope this helped! I rarely write reviews, but I am for this product. I've struggled with earwax buildup several times in my life, but nothing like recently. My hearing was so diminished that others started to take notice. Then, they started completely occluding in the mornings. I tried all of the OTC medications you can think of, but nothing worked. I was about to go get my ears flushed professionally at an urgent care but stumbled across this device. It is LIFE changing! I can now hear fully, and once I got the majority of the stuff out, my ear did the rest and cleared everything out so well. Fair warning: if you don't have a steady hand or aren't good at visualizing a screen while manipulating a tool, this can be very dangerous. However, it is fairly straightforward and user-friendly. This tool is so well priced that I'd pay a hundred for it after seeing how well it worked. It also saved me several hundred dollars on an urgent care trip!

I was skeptical about purchasing this....However, when we got it I was surprised at how great the quality looked! It was packaged well with many attachments! It makes ear cleaning much easier and the camera on it is pretty good quality for the price! Now I can clean my kid's ears without worrying about hurting them because I can see to accurately remove any wax build up! It is compact and can be taken anywhere. It does not cause any pain when using and actually eased some of the pain my son was having in his ear from the wax not allowing water to drain.. The cons are that the camera will lag some and switch from left to right while using and the battery life is like 20 minutes max but does not take long to charge! Would recommend everyone keep in a first aid kit or in their bathroom! It is a life saver!
