We got this today and anxiously awaited its arrival. We immediately started making some soft serve and after reading reviews as well as looking up some tutorial videos, we decided to add a tablespoon of cocoa powder and a tablespoon of instant pudding mix (a binder) to the vanilla soft serve recipe in the manual, to thicken it up a bit. It turned out perfect!! It took right at 30min from dumping it all in and turning it on to the ice cream hitting the cones. I consider that to be some really fast ice cream! With the added ingredients the consistency was perfect! It was quiet, isn’t too big and worked great. I did notice a couple drips coming down but we also didn’t realize we were supposed to change the setting to pour the cones and honestly it was only a couple drips that landed in the drip pan anyway. The part it came from comes off to be cleaned either way so it’s not like it will stay in there to create a problem. We haven’t tried slushies yet, those will be this weekend but I already can’t wait. I have a hard time with making sure machines like this are fully cleaned and I’m always paranoid it won’t be clean enough. This came apart really easily in ways that will be simple to put back together after it’s dried off and I love that! I wavered on getting this for a long time because it’s expensive, but thought what better than making our own slushies and soft serve!! I’m so glad we did.

Amazon should stop selling these inferior machines. They function great until the inevitable and widely reported leaking due to a negligently weak mixing bowl. The plastic is too thin and weak at the mounting points, and as is widely reported in social media and product reviews, it will inevitably crack and leak. Customer service will promise to send you a new one if it’s within the warranty period. However, there are so many failures that the backlog to receive a replacement can run months. DO NOT BUY THIS MACHINE. Update: The machine works very well and is easy to use. However, my unit suffered the same leaking that others have experienced after only a few uses. The clear mixing bowl has slots that fit into tabs on the machine body. You twist the mixing bowl into these tabs and it locks into place. The slot that’s near the top of the mixing bowl is supported by very narrow plastic and it cracks then leaks. My guess is that it cracked during assembly or disassembly by putting too much downward pressure on the mixing bowl, or while filling it when resting a container on it while pouring in the mixture. It’s very weak at that point. So if you do not want yours to crack and leak, then be very careful not to press down on the mixing bowl at any time. I think even pressing down on the dispenser handle too firmly could crack the bowl since that would put a lot of torque on that particular mounting slot. The manufacturer needs to reinforce that area to make it stronger. Deducting two stars for the failure after only a few uses. The manufacturer sells replacements but it’s the same weak design. Handle it very carefully and you’ll be happy with the machine. Previous: Wow, this thing works great! Soft serve ice cream, slushies, spiked slushies…. quick and so easy. Very well made high quality, operated quietly, solid well functioning machine. I was skeptical given an overall 4.4 stars (I wanted 4.7 at least) and seeing other makes rated poorly. I was worried if it would be a huge useless pain destined for the scrap heap. NO! It works amazingly well and convenient. So much so that I bought another one as a Christmas gift for my daughter’s family of four because I know they’d love it, have fun and enjoy the results. This is a rare experience of a product far exceeding expectations. Pour premixed margarita straight in, turn it on, choose the right setting and sit back to wait for the much anticipated beep for great adult slushes. Delicious!

So far I've used it twice for ice cream. The family loved being able to get soft serve at home. The machine is a nice size to keep on the counter or store in the pantry. I pushed the slushie button and created some butter my first try. Make sure to use the soft serve setting when using heavy cream in your recipe. This machine is powerful and quiet. Clean up is easy using the cleaning cycle and warm not hot water with a little dish soap. After the machine self clean I finish with a hand wash and rinse. I would not use a dish washer for this. Also, do not put the whole double wall container under water. I handwash and rinse avoiding getting water inside the opening of the double wall area. My first recipe was a mango nectar soft serve. It taste great except for the butter pieces that formed. My fault. I used the cleaning function to put my mixture into a bowl. This function stops the freezing function but let's the machine operate to remove the contents. When the ice cream seemed to be finished dispensing, I poured a cup of clean water in to help the rest of the ice cream out. I don't like wasting food. Then I did the cleaning. This makes a nice soft serve. If the original setting is not as firm as you like it just adjust the temp by one click. Mine was just right. I made vanilla for the grands and they were so happy. As long as I have this and ingredients at home, I have frozen gratification.

Ever sitting at home craving ice cream and not wanting to leave the house. Better yet, you can make it faster and be eating it sooner than going out to get it! This machine is very simple to set up, directions are very good. We have made home made soft serve as well as frozen yogurt and it came out delicious. The serving size is very good, I over eat but I would say makes enough for a family of 4 in 1 batch, maybe 6 if your eating proper portions. Machine is very quiet when running, but I would use the maximum setting, otherwise it comes out a little too soft. Clean up is very simple and you can start the next batch in 10 minutes. Can't wait to make some frozen drinks with this. The mixing bowl is made of plastic, probably to keep the weight of the machine not so heavy. Over all this is exactly as described and I can now eat soft serve ice cream without ever leaving the house!

LOVE THIS ICE CREAM MACHINE. We use it almost every single day. I mostly use it to make vanilla ice cream or orange juice slushy. I used to have a ninja cremi but got rid of it once I got this. It is so simple to use and quick. I love how you don’t have to freeze anything the night before. You can choose your consistency. I get so many compliments from friends and family! It is so much fun to try new flavors. 10/10 would recommend.

Cannot make soft serve that is stiff enough for a cone. I only bought it to make soft serve. I have tried 3 different recipes and a mix. I have tried varying all kinds of ingredients. I have prechilled ingredients. I contacted support (their suggestions were useless as those suggestions were already in the book). It is easy to use and not too bad to clean. I wish I didn’t buy this though.

This is not something I’d typically buy because it’s a large countertop appliance that I thought would be one of those things you buy with the plans of using all of the time when in reality you use it once or twice and it just sits there. However, I was definitely wrong. I started with ice cream because that was the original guilty intent (the recommended soft serve # setting was runny so I turned the setting to the maximum on soft serve and that worked well). With the added book there are so many options and ideas you can come up with. I made an Iced tea lemonade slushie! It was a little too sweet for my liking but the option to be able to experiment is where this thing really shines, especially for protein smoothies. I can’t say I would have tried it at it’s current list price but i’m glad I got it on sale during prime day. Honestly, I think if you can get this for about $300, it’s worth it, especially if you have kids. Any leftovers we had, I just put it into a container as soft serve ice cream then froze it for saving.

I can show you more photos of the two cracked bowls. I had to take them in order to get them replaced. After the 2nd one I was offered yet another bowl, but they are out so it was going to be 2 months waiting. I can tell you why they are out, because they break. My first broke in the 2nd week of use, the second broke after 2 uses. I see there are others with the same issue, not sure how anyone doesn't have this issue, unless the seal portion on some units pulls tighter. I heard mine crack when I put it on. With all my going back and forth with GreenPan on the warranty and replacements I missed the return window. The vendor and Amazon understood that I tried to get this fixed and refunded me my money. BUT, here is my issue, this would be an amazing product, the ice cream, the slushies, the lemonade slushies, margaritas were great. There was no competitor (until 2 weeks ago) that had a compressor and could do all these types of items. Seriously, I and my AI friends searched and searched, until just last week a competitor emerged with a very similar product, which we ordered. Last notes on this, the bowl has a double wall, and water gets in that wall during use and washing, there is only a door at the bottom to let water out, so the inside gets wet and cloudy and starts to look bad. No way to clean it. Until this bowl is fixed, I recommend you not buy this. FYI, I have done 3000+ reviews and only a few times have I said, do not buy. Hopefully they get a new bowl, this could be a great product.
