New Car Doesn't Have Homelink, No Problem!
I was surprised that many new cars no longer have built in homelink type system to open entry gates or garage doors. Instead, many now require installing an app on your phone, logging into the app and following the prompts each time you want to open your garage or entry gate. To me, that is cumbersome and not progress! I also did not want to carry around multiple remotes with me so I thought I would give this XIHADA universal remote a try. So far I really like the convenience and have also purchased another one for a family member. Here are a few tips I have found in getting it set up and programmed: 1) Check to make sure your garage opener is listed as compatible as provided in the description. This part was easy as many many models are listed. For my entry gate, I had no idea what the model was but thought I would take a chance and it too was compatible. 2) You do need to have your original remotes to clone or program into the XIHADA. The instructions state when programming the XIHADA to place your remote 2 to 3 cm away to go into a rapid flash mode indicating it is ready to complete setup. This part, I had to try a few times and found that I actually had to have my original remote touching the XIHADA for the sensor to pick it up. From there you just select one of the 4 buttons on the XIHADA that you would like to use for your gate entry. It was easy and works great. 3) For your garage door, the steps are the same but then you also need to press or turn on the "learn" button on your garage door motor. For me, this entailed getting a ladder and pushing the learn button on my garage door motor at which point it emitted a blue light. From there you do need to hold up the XIHADA to this learn mode light and when it senses the XIHADA, the LED light on my garage door motor started flashing red and blue rapidly. To compete the setup you then simply push which button on the XIHADA universal remote you designated for your garage and it will open and close your garage door. 4) It is nice that you can program up to 4 garage doors or entry gates into this one small lightweight universal remote and it comes in different colors so easy to tell a family member's remote from yours. 5) It senses very well and the range is quite good so I have no problem opening my gate or garage door timely. I have no idea how long the battery that is pre installed in this will work, but so far so good. 6) The instructions are very easy to follow step by step but I also found it useful to watch a how to video by the manufaturer on youtube so I could pause it and review for each step. All in all I am pleased with this. There is nota visor clip but I simply keep mine on my keychain as it is so small and compact.

First impression is good!
Update 4/2/2022 It's been 1 1/2 years now and this remote still works great, and I'm still on the original battery. Highly recommended! I am using this to replace my Genie remotes that are now about 15 years old and have become unreliable. Programming was easy (my original remotes were in the compatibility list- model GICTD), and although printed instructions were included they were difficult to read due to the print size. The video on the Amazon product page was easy to follow and is what I used. The remote has a very small ring attached that can be used to attach an even larger ring for keys. There is no visor clip. The battery was included and already installed. Warning: It appears you must have a working remote to program this one! Since one of my originals wasn't working at all, and the other only working intermittently, I feel fortunate to get the programming to work. If you don't have a working remote, it doesn't appear you can program this per the instructions. A couple of issues I had with the original Genie remotes: 1) The battery did not last very long. I actually suspect there was a constant draw even when not used which resulted in the battery needing replacement about every 6 months. Even when sitting unused the battery would drain! This was true on both of the originals. 2) When separating the halves to replace the battery the tabs that hold the halves together would break. While I can't speak to the battery life (yet) on this remote, it appears the two halves are held together via a screw which makes more sense and should facilitate battery replacement. The garage door is quickly activated from a reasonable distance from within a closed car. The buttons have a very nice feel with a positive "click" so you know it's activated. Overall, I recommend this remote as a low-cost replacement that may actually be better than the originals. At least in my case!

Awesome Double Duty Remote
Just got a new company truck without Homelink so I wanted a single remote for both my powered gate and my garage doors. We have Linear brand garage openers and a Liftmaster gate operator. Programming the garage door buttons was simple enough. Just followed the basic cloning directions. Easy peasy. The gate required an extra step as all remotes for it do. had to open the control box and engage the Learn function after programming the remote. Took longer to open the box than it did to program the device. very pleased to have a single, very small remote for both. Works perfectly and has decent range.

Versatile Remote!…beware, not made well
Updated Review: I’ve bought three of these remotes in the past two years. They were perfect for our use as they worked with garage door openers and community gates. Last month one of the remotes stopped working. I thought no big deal, I’ll open it up and replace the battery. However, when I opened it up, the solder had come loose on the piece that holds the battery in place. I was bummed but figured it was a fluke and threw it in the trash. This week the same thing happened to a second remote. I will now be looking to replace both remotes with a different brand. Original Review: This remote was simple to program (follow the simple directions/video) and and opens both our community gate and our garage door. It’s a slim design that works perfect on your keys so you’re not leaving it in the car for someone to break into at night and open your garage.

Good universal remote - works with Ghost Controls gate opener
Tried many "universal" remotes; finally found this one that works with both our Genie garage door and our Ghost Controls Gate opener! Ghost Controls is not on the list of compatible remotes, but it programmed just fine. Programming was easy and remote works fine so far (only had it for 2 weeks). Range is acceptable - pretty equivalent to factory remotes. No sense of battery life yet. Only con so far is lack of distinction between buttons - different colors or a number printed on them or even some bumps/tactile feedback. Remote is small and easy to confuse orientation when grabbing it in the dark.

Solid remote
Although the instructions were slightly confusing upon the first read, tinkering with it for a few more minutes after reading it resulted in a fully functioning control. I had already bought several other brands before this one, and this was the first one (though I cannot guarantee it wasn't just a coincidence) that fully worked. All four buttons were connected to my gate, wheras other ones I purchased either wouldn't connect at all or would only connect with the top two buttons. Overall, a solid purchase.

Great, but you need my instructions
This is really a great little universal remote. HOWEVER, the instructions, which were sent from vendor before my remote arrived, were very hard to understand and do not appear to be correct. Here is the proper instructions that worked with my Craftsman and friends Chamberlain and entry gate of unknown vendor. Note, holding the universal remote with the key attachment string on top, the first row of buttons starting from the Left are buttons 1 and 2. The second row is buttons 3 and 4. First, for the entry gate. On the universal remote, hold down button 1 . The LED will light up. Then press button 2 FOUR times. The LED should flash slowly. Place the entry gate remote near the universal remote hold down the button to open the gate until the LED on the universal remote flashes rapidly. Release the button on the gate remote and then press whatever key you want to use to control the gate on the universal remote. For the garage door openers, use the process above. However, one more step is needed as this process only sets the frequency and security protocol on the universal remote for the garage door opener. The step required for success is easy – press the LEARN button on your garage door opener (the mechanical unit that opens the door). The LED on your garage door opener should be ON. Next, just press the same button you programmed on the universal remote. The lights on your garage door opener should either flash or go on or off depending on the brand of the opener. You can now use the universal remote to open your garage door. Note that this procedure should be used for ANY opener that has a LEARN button.
