Canadian Bacon [DVD]

THIS WAS BOUGHT AS A BIRTHDAY PRESENT. THEY HAD SAID IT WAS HARD TO FIND BUT I FOUND IT PRETTY EASILY ON HERE. IT CAME WELL PACKAGED, NO SCRATCHES AND THE PERSON ENJOYED IT.

Saw this movie several years ago, and liked it. Had a VHS tape, but my player no longer worked, so replaced it with the DVD. Love the fact it's a farce about going to war with Canada...and any of the principal stars are Canadian, John Candy and Dan Aykroyd among them. Just enjoy

Satire par excellence... Alan Alda is the perfect personification of every “Commander in Chief” from LBJ to Trump. His decisions, motivated by narcissism and poll ratings, are based on asinine intel from weasel ‘advisors’ and mainstream media pimping for the military industrial complex at the expense of American and Canadian citizens. John Candy’s character, "Bud Boomer" and his buddies represent all of the intellectually challenged “Joe Six-packs” and Donald-gulled MAGA believers who support the deep state scoundrels and keep them in office. “Honey” exemplifies their feminine (?) component. A satire that was far ahead of its time in depicting the bathos and the mock-epic that is Washington, DC and contemporary America. Sad but true.

This was a gift. The person likes John Candy. If you like John Candy, you will like this.

It takes place in Michigan, need I say more. The movie has a good selection of great actors and actresses, plus you end up laughing most of the way through the movie.

IMHO, this is is a nice addition to any collection for John Candy and Alan Alda fans. Maybe not one of the best but a good and funny movie if you just sit back and enjoy the movie for its own sake.. Found myself laughing out loud in some parts. A silly movie but one worth watching on a rainy day. Just make sure you order the right Region format, as some of the lower ratings are from reviewers who ordered/received the wrong format for their player.Special features consist of scene selection and the original theatrical trailer for the movie. Video transfer and sound quality is excellent.

I love this movie because it would never happen! I have lived in Buffalo my whole life and trips to Canada were like going to any other neighborhood, not at all like a foreign country! The scenery is like watching a home movie. John Candy and the entire cast is so funny and because I know many of them are Canadien it kinda gives me permission to laugh at it all. But if anyone dared to think it is o.k.to insult my neighbors to the north...they'll have my fists to deal with!!! Really, just relax , watch with appropriate disbelief and enjoy this movie.

Usually, that is always before, Amazon has been extremely thorough & correct about any purchases. I don't understand how you can ask this when I tried everything with you and MovieMars to get a return label because your ad for Canadian Bacon mentioned dvd but not Region 2 until the end of the ad,and that was after an ad for something else like StarWars. Then below that it mentioned region 2- I never got that far because everything above in the ad was exactly what I wanted to order. Nothing was written by the letters "dvd" - about it being Region 2.Then after going thru so much with MovieMars and you (Amazon) even on a chat with one of your people, and getting the refund for the dvd, you both sent me an email asking me if I was happy with my purchase.Amazon, you know everything I've ever inquired about and bought, still you did not warn me about Region 2. I have never bought Region 2. I had to put "hated it" because it's the only way I could give this review. Since then I borrowed it from Netflix, & do not wish to purchase it period.

in üblicher Moore Art - übertreibt, überzieht und zeigt die komplizierte Verhältnisse zwischen USA und Kanada - was bekannter Weise große Städte an den großen Seen so extrem unterschiedlich macht, zwei verschiedene Mentaliäten und ihr Umgang mit den Mitmenschen - nur halt auf makaber und lustig..

Had seen this a few years back, didn't realise it was by Michael Moore. It's funny and with the current political landscape in many countries it continues to seem relevant.In short an unpopular president, leading a US during a period of economic decline, wishes the cold war was still on so he could just blame all the problems on the Russians (i.e. foreigners - sound familiar?). As such his team come up with the idea of another, albeit phoney, cold war, with both sides pretending to be at war but not actually doing anything, however the Russians aren't willing to go along with it.As such they instead decide that Canada might be the perfect target for such a campaign. They start broadcasting all kinds of bizarre reports about aggressive actions by Canada but unfortunately a number of small-town hicks along the border get a little too psyched up and decide to lead the charge into Canada, leading to lots of craziness and daft stereotypes of Canadians.

This DVD was a joy to watch.
