Jane Eyre
S**S
One of the best heroines of classic literature
First let's start with the copy of my book. I do wish the text could have been a bit bigger when it comes to the font. There is also meanings given in the back of certain phrases and parts that are in french (a really good addition imo). The pages are a bit too white (book readers will get what I mean lol). Overall a good product! Now the story! What can I even say about it. Jane Eyre is a beautiful story of this really strong and brave woman whose struggles through life do not alter the goodness she has. I hated St. John's character (very obvious why once you read it but understandable cause of the time it was written in). Anyways, my favorite part of the book surely was the switch that takes place in the end when it comes to the lack of power that Jane held in the starting of the book. This perfectly balances the power imbalance that was between her and Rochester.Bertha's storyline and her scenes definitely gave me goosebumps. From her creepy laughs to the final revelation! Her presence was definitely the eeriest part of the book.As for Rochester! The twist in the end when it comes to what happens to him was definitely the most shocking part of the entire book to me. His actions at one point generated sympathy at other points a huge question mark for me. But I like that he does realize his actual mistakes by the end and goes on to become better. Well.. if you do plan to read it just go for it! It's quite suitable for people of most ages and also a wonderful read.

One of my favorite classics!
The reason that i adore this book so much is because the herpine of the novel happens to be an independent, free spirit who believes in carving her own path. The cherry on top is Miss Jane in her simplicity and straightforward nature quite relatable. Her journey is interesting, while her assessments of people and situations, even more. One of the most interesting themes of the novel happen to be gothic fiction and mystery. Go for it if you want to read an immersive classic!

The story of an independent woman
Jane Eyre is the story of a nineteenth century Victorian woman who so unlike her contemporaries strives to be independent and steadfast. The eponymous narrator lost her parents when she was young, and was bestowed to her cruel and uncompromising aunt by her uncle, to be taken care of well. The step motherly behaviour she is subjected to when she is fostered in her aunt's house, and the subsequent hardships and adventures she undergoes which makes her a strong-willed, courageous woman with moral uprightness and fortitude of character forms the rest of the story. It is an inspiring tale against all those norms and customs that were so misogynistic, so ordinary, and so adhered to without any misgivings, in the Victorian era.She doesn't compromise with her integrity and her sense of righteousness one bit, even when it comes at the enormous cost of happiness that was to be hers if she did. And, she does it not once, but twice.Five glittering stars from my side.

Praising this masterpiece is not my cup of tea
The more I read especially classics, the more difficulty I find in choosing my most favourite. I was certain that no other book would come closer to the novel 'To kill a mockingbird', untill I finished reading 'Jane Eyre'. What a fantastic, remarkable, and emotional roller coaster this book proven to be! From the early childhood to the late teen, Jane showed immaculate characteristics, immensely resolute in her decisions that no amount of cajoling or browbeating would have strayed her from the path chosen. The dialogues- chefs kiss. The story: captivating. Charlotte Brontë- an author who rightly deserve all the admiration. Overwhelmed by finishing a masterpiece, I'm unable to say more.

Ok Quality
The book feels like a secondhand, with wrinkles on the front and back cover. The pages are easy to read and glossy, but are a bit thin, but I think that is expected from the price that you are paying.

The classics are classic for a reason, and this one is riveting.
Note: This review concerns the "Penguin Classics" paperback version of the book. (ISBN - 9780141441146).This gothic romance novel is a perennial classic, so I won't belabor about its plot. There is probably a course in MA English on this. The novel is very well-written, and is quite rich in texture. The characters are complex and very believable. There are so many layers to this novel that it is hard to tell what it is about. On the surface, it is of course a romance novel. But I think like all great books, the reader will eventually go through a journey with the narrator, and find him/herself enriched at the end.You gotta read this one.P.S. Skip the lengthy introduction unless you want spoilers, and go easy on the notes as well (at the back of book). The Penguin Classics version is pretty bare-bones, and it does the job.
