Ecumffy pizza oven review of 2-10-26. There is a lot to like about this pizza oven, especially the fact that it has both upper and lower heating coils. This oven is the abode of enlightenment for seekers after crisp crust. The oven comes with a pizza stone, which has a dark "glazed" coating on its upper surface. Avoiding soap and using a scraper to clean a pizza stone is a standard approach, but personally I prefer to use 150 grit sandpaper. This is how I bake my thin crust pizzas. Per oven user's manual, let the frozen pizza thaw. Preheat with both coils at 800 F. As soon as the temperature on the thermometer reaches 650 F, use the included pizza paddles to insert the pizza. Leave lower coil at 800 F, set upper coil to 500 F. Final baking time will be eight minutes. Halfway through, use the paddles to rotate the pizza a half rotation. After the baking is finished, remove from the oven using the paddles, the paddles instantly transforming to a cooling and serving platter. My Ecumffy is frequently on the road. Worked great however the ceramic coating on the pizza stone is coming off. Now I have to throw it away because it is not safe. The stone has never been submerged in water so I have no idea why this is happening. It is not kept in a cold room so there’s no chance of any huge rise or fall in temperature to create this. Very disappointed.
