Where is the hole to put your hand? I'm looking for a puppet I can play with a clawed kitten with so would like most of my forearm to be protected.

I ordered this as gift and have never seen it. However I have several of their puppets. With large ones like this, there is more than one opening, one in the neck area for working the head and mouth and one near the middle for working the paws hands. You might try contacting the Folkmanis Company for a definite answer. The quality of their puppets is excellent.

My child loves to brush her dolls hair. Can she do likewise with the fur on this adorable?

It is a fury puppet. I guess you could brush with a small brush. His fur is about 2” long. So probably cannot do a lot of styling.

Is it washable ( machine) ?

My sheepdog is packed away, yet I believe they are only to be "surface wiped" according to the tag. i can't imagine the beautiful fake fur standing up to a washer.

is this prime purchase a free return item?

I do not know, I kept the puppet because it is cute
