Break Away Headers 2.54 mm Male Pin Header Connector - 40-pin Male Long Centered (Pack of 10)

There's nothing particularly great or awful about these; they're a simple part and they do what they're supposed to. I needed to connect a stepper motor to a prototype circuit on a solderless breadboard; it worked fine. Would also work for servos, etc. Might conceivably use them instead of the usual stacking headers for a microcontroller, but that seems less likely. Probably have enough to last a lifetime now! And Amazon is still asking to rate "sheerness" of inappropriate items... these are not fabric. I suppose they are a bit see-through as if you were to enclose them in an imaginary box, the box would be mostly empty space.

These centered long headers allow you to plug two female headers together. Useful for plugging a board equipped with female headers into a prototype board. Also, if you're doing a stacking design where you need more clearance between boards than is provided by a single female/male header combination, you can use two female headers and this item between them to get that extra room to prevent contact between the facing components on the boards. Great item. One word of warning, the pins can slide within the plastic mounting rail, so you have to even them up to make sure you get solid contacts on both ends, sometimes.

I would buy again if the need comes again.

These are perfect for ARGB / RGB male-to-male connectors. If you need 3-pin the pins slide out easily. Nice tight fit instead of the short skinny pins on the stock connectors.

Absolutely will not take solder. Had to copper electroplate the pin and even then it was hit or miss.

I had purchased so-called "Male Long Centered" pins before and didn't notice that these are the shorter version of "long". They do fit solderless breadboards but I have found that the truly long pins available with 8.20mm pin length work much more reliably than these 6.25mm pin lengths. It's 8.20 mm vs. 6.25mm . Also the longer ones work much better with wire-wrapping applications. I use both quite a bit. I recommend the longer pins for sure.

These breakaway headers are good to have on hand when working with Arduino or Raspberry Pi boards.

Purchased these for an Arduino project. The pins pull through the plastic housing. When you disconnect something from the pin, the metal male pins just slide through therefore making it difficult to maintain a connection. I reordered the item wanting to give it a second chance but never received the item. Look elsewhere.
