Goya Gandules (Dry Pigeon Peas) 14oz

The Goya Gandules are great, clean, and perfect for traditional dishes. They cook evenly and keep a nice, firm texture without getting mushy. The flavor is rich and earthy, exactly what you want for recipes like arroz con gandules, stews, or soups. I also appreciate that the beans come well sorted with very few broken pieces or debris, which isn’t always the case with other brands. They’re easy to soak, easy to cook, and the 14oz bag is a great size for multiple meals.

Unlike their pozole corn, this is a great product without bugs in the bag. Excellent in Cuban rice. Plus, you can plant the dry beans and grow bearing plants.

I love the fact that these beans will last me longer then trying to find the ones in cans

I used these for planting. They must be quite fresh because they had a great (and fast) germination rate.

Antes compraba las marcas genéricas del supermercado local y honestamente los gandules venían con demasiadas piedras y tallos que había que separar manualmente, pero estos de Goya son completamente diferentes. Los granos están limpios, uniformes en tamaño y se cocinan de manera muy pareja sin desmenuzarse, lo que es crucial cuando haces un buen arroz con gandules o un guiso tradicional. El sabor es auténtico y concentrado, nada de ese gusto plano que tienen otros productos, y la textura después de cocidos queda perfecta: tiernos pero sin perder su forma. La bolsa de 14oz rinde bastante para una familia y definitivamente vuelvo a comprar este producto porque es la mejor opción que he encontrado para cocinar de verdad

Honoring my boriqua heritage with some arroz con gandules for the holidays. These were expensive but plumped up beautifully, tasted great. Not my favorite brand, but thos product was hard to find.

I purchased these Pigeon Pea seeds for growing, rather than for eating. Gardeners such as myself often plant dried bean seeds from bags such as these. After soaking the seeds in rain water overnight, and sowing them about 1/2" deep in fresh, damp potting mix during warm weather, only about 10-20 seeds from the bag germinated, and those seedlings are very weak. The bag's date was 2024 (so, fresh enough), and the seeds looked good. I'm an experienced Florida grower and have planted many pigeon pea seeds and cared for many pigeon pea plants. This was disappointing, and unexpected. For planting, I would give this product 0 or 1 star. But, since this product seems intended for eating, and I didn't use it that way, I gave it 3 out of 5 stars. I was hoping to eat the pigeon peas from the plants these were going to grow though.
