I bought this device to submit Jeevan Praman certificates from home in these lockdown conditions. Could not go either to the EPFO offices or Bank and my pension had stopped. The scanner came with a chord which had a Type 2 USB jack. There was also a Type 2 USB to Micro USB converter. I had downloaded the Umang App on my cell phone and first tried to set this up on my Android cell phone. After struggling for several hours I gave up. Could not install. My cell phone recognised the device but wouldn't work. Then I tried setting up on my Windows 10 Laptop. First I had to download the detailed installation manual from their website. Had a tough time locating the manual on the internet. As explained in the manual I had to download two separate driver files and install those. Then I had to adjust my Firefox Browser's security settings and list of allowed security certificates. Only after that the devise worked. I did a few test scans and it worked. However there was a twist. When the device scans there is no visible light. Other scanners have a green or red light which scans. But this device has an invisible light. Maybe in the infra-red or ultra-violet range. After that I switched on the Umang Application. Went to the Jeevan Praman application from within Umang. The Jeevan Praman application immediately detected the device. Looked up the Aaadhaar database after I furnished my Aadhaar number. And i had submitted my life existence certificate in a jiffy. Overall a good investment.

Thank you startek for this amazing fingerprint scanner. Using the device was very simple and easy. I used this fingerprint scanner for Jeevan Pramaan Digital life certificate of my grandmother. I did finish the process in 10 minutes. Very easy to set it up and I used it on my Android Mobile phone. I recommend everyone to buy this startek fm220u which already had Rd service subscription registered upto 30 January 2021. Thank Amazon for delivering this device.

As per description, device could be used for Android phones. But i received a device with USB port which can be used only on laptop. Moreover, the drivers do not get in installed on laptop so overall I could not use the device at all. Returning it now.

No work

Was initially disappointed since the device was not registered (registration had expired since it was being sold to us one year after the registration - and the free initial one year registration had therefore expired). But the seller (Radium Box) helped fix that. Besides, it took some effort to install the drivers property but again thankfully Startek helped with that via remote access. Finally when it was all set, we were able to successfully use it. Giving four stars because we were not able to hit the ground running with the device, and needed some assistance and extra time to get it working. But we know better for next time we need to use it.
