Having a hunting rangefinder has been a want of mine for several years. I finally was able to get one. Most of the game shots I take in the East Coast forests and hills are 75 yards or less. However, periodically, I make a hunting trip to western states in pursuit of big game. While I’ve been successful in guessing the ranges involved, knowing those ranges is better than guessing for proper shot placement. That’s where a range finder comes in handy. The H-116 range finder came well-equipped with a 1000mAh 3V CR2 battery, a case with a magnetically held cover and carabiner in its hanging loop, a lens cleaning cloth, a hanging string, and an instruction sheet. Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to attach the hanging string to the range finder itself; the small bar it attaches to was mounted in a cavity without sloping sides. That strap would have been handy to wrap around my wrist to prevent dropping the range finder when held in numb, cold hands. Checking its accuracy against a surveyed distant property line fence 157 feet away showed a difference of only two feet. That’s close enough for hunting accuracy. Unfortunately, I won’t have access to a known distant object to test it against until my next trip out west. The WOSPORTS hunting range finder is living up to my expectations. My only criticism of it is that I find you need full daylight to see and accurately measure an object's distance. Since most big game hunting in East Coast environments is most effective right after daybreak and the last few hours before nightfall, that is a hindrance. To overcome that, I’ll be taking measurements of objects that can be seen from my deer stand during the day and instantly judging bow shooting distance based on those established ranges.

The hunting rangefinder is a must have since I bow hunt only. I do have a rangefinder now that is quite a bit more expensive than this one, but the WOSPORTS rangefinder works just as well at a much more affordable price. The visibility and clarity are spot on. When ranging, the distance is accurate and I do not have to second guess which is extremely important when bow hunting.

Didn't work like advertised

Pretty simple range finder. What I really liked was that you can install the battery, hit the on button and it works. There was no real learning curve for the basic operation, point, tap power button and read distance and angle. Pros: Uses CR2 battery, this allows to have extra in your gear and not rely on a built in battery staying charged. It comes with case. Easy to use. Cons: Forget using this in low light. It will give you a reading, but you need a light source to point it at after it locked in the reading. Pro/Con depends on you point of view: Without a rechargeable battery it feels very light weight and cheap. CR2 batteries don't last as long as rechargeable units, but they are light weight and you can carry a few extra. Vibration, it lets you know it locked in a distance, but it sounds like a cell phone vibrating. Overall, this is a nice little unit that is on the higher end price wise for a low cost range finder. At the time of writing this, the 3 mode unit was half the price of the 4 mode.
