331 1/2-Horse Power Portable Transfer Pump, Aluminum

This pump is amazing. We'll worth the price.

I purchased this pump to transfer water from my swim spa filter to a disposal line so as not to dump water into an enclosed inside room so the filter can be serviced. It quickly became evident to me why its cost is double cast iron transfer pumps I used in the past that burned out easy and rusted. This pump is easily half the weight of the cast iron pumps, smaller, easy to use with its cord and off/on toggle switch. It is more powerful, far quieter and empties the filter faster than several other transfer pumps I used in the past. If there is ever any need to replace it, I would gladly spend the extra money for this pump given its features compared to its cast iron counterparts.

This is the 2nd one I've bought. I Bought one 3 yrs ago lasted this long, used alot in the job for hydronic heating.

A masterpiece! Made in America with great quality like all things here once were. 15' excellent quality power cord. The prime hole is recessed funnel like to make priming a pleasure. Great quality on/off switch, wonderful users manual, strainer included, light enough to move easily by both my wife and I. Solid cast Aluminum body, not hideous plastic. It pumped like a little fiend removing water from a flooded crawl space. Worked to empty our large aquarium in minutes rather that the old siphon procedure we previously used. We will be using it for occasional short duration flood irrigation of our yard from a nearby canal to augment our lawn sprinkler system in very hot spells. Remember this is a transfer pump not a continuous heavy duty pump. Suction worked well with an Apache 3/4" x 25' Rubber Heavy Duty Water/Garden Hose, Apache # 98108802, it did not collapse from suction. Also upgraded strainer to a 1" foot valve Parts20 TC2503LF which we used with a brass 1" pipe thread by male garden hose adapter found on ebay. For draining the aquarium we used a Graco 243082 or 243-082 Inlet suction strainer (with adapters from hardware store) the fine mesh kept aquarium gravel from being suctioned although we were careful to avoid sucking sand when possible. In short this a excellent product that works great, one of those purchases you will feel good about.

Updated review: The pump ended up being a dud. Crapped out quickly, got a new one under warranty. Same thing happened a 2nd time. Stay away from this unless you are pumping pristine potable water. Original Review Given California's drought, we purchased this Liberty Pumps 331 1/2 Horse Power Portable Water Pump for use in pumping free Recycled Water we are using for our outside watering. This pump perfectly fit our needs and is much safer and easier to use than our old pumps. The pump is made of durable construction, is safe to use around water given its on/off switch (our old pumps were turned off and on at the outlet only), is easy to carry with the top handle, and is very quiet, sounds like a muted shop vac and is quieter than a hairdryer. The pump efficiently and safely transfers Recycled Water from my husband's pickup truck water hauling tank one of our 2 outdoor water storage tanks. We then use the pump to pump water from the tanks and water with a hose and spray nozzle or an oscillating sprinkler; see attached photo showing the pump pumping from our 500 gallon water tank. The water pressure is better than what comes out of our tap water hose bibs. The pump is very easy to use, the intake and outtake connections are separately female/male connections so you cannot screw up connecting the transfer and output hoses. I very little mechanical ability and learned to use the pump in just one lesson from my husband. A must have pump for water pumping needs and another great Amazon Prime value.

I don't typically review purchases, but in this case I was planning on calling the company, Liberty Pumps, to personally thank them for saving the day. We had a catastrophic failure of the drain in our 56-year-old cast-iron bathtub, on the second floor of our home. It let go of over thirty-gallons of water, which came down through the floor/ceiling into the kitchen below. It is the only tub/shower we have in the house and the job of removing and replacing it is going to take a lot of work and a long time to find a new tub that will fit into the existing space. As an interim solution, so we can still take baths, I used epoxy to seal the drain and duck tape to seal the overflow, but getting the water out of the tub after each bath was going to be a long and tedious process. So, I went looking for a pump that I could use in the small bathroom, a pump that I could coil up into a small box when not in use, a pump that would empty a full bath tub in a matter of a few minutes, As usual I went to Amazon and found what I needed, the Liberty 331. It is an extremely well built, fantastically simple design. It comes with a twenty-foot-long electrical-cord. with a strain-relief and a well placed switch. It's just what I needed and it is beautiful ! Thank you Liberty Pumps, I expect the 331 will come in handy again again and last for many years.

I was looking for a pump that I could use to feed my plants from a 55 gallon reservoir. This pump provides a better flow rate than my garden hose, and I don’t have to run it continuously (Although I don’t recommend letting it idle for too long. You do want to add a PVC intake as a hose will collapse from the suction. I’m using a 50’ hose with no issues on pressure and I’m sure it could handle a 75-100’ hose just haven’t tried it. I’ve ran a few hundred gallons through it with no issues and have ran organic nutrients through it with no issues thus far. Would recommend this pump, it does great and I’ve always had success with some of the bigger Liberty pumps. Great buy!

After wasting too much time and effort over the years, finally I bought this pump to drain fast hot water heaters. It does it 5-star fast when properly equipped and handles without a problem the hot water. Because the pump is so strong plus hot water softens garden hoses, I use on the suction port of the pump (input) only a 3/4" braided stainless hot water heater line that's 24-inches long and up to 50-feet of 3/4-inch garden hose (depending on where I'm discharging to) on the discharge port (output). Results: A fully loaded 40-gallon tank empties in under 2-minutes with this setup. But to get these results, you must use 3/4-inch (or larger diameter) suction and discharge lines, but only the suction line need be reinforced to prevent it collapsing. Otherwise, a heated garden hose will be sucked nearly flat significantly reducing volume (GPH) results. Upadte (12/7/15): My customer had a 1" water line burst under a large structure. I dug a sump on the side and used this pump to remove approx 1,000 gallons in an hour. I didn't use the (supplied) foot valve. I upgraded to stainless steel w/ tight screen when I bought this pump not knowing a plastic foot valve already comes with Liberty 331. Very impressive pump thus far.

Excellent produit tres robuste

I used this pump for the first time today. It's a top quality pump. It's very well designed and built, and comes with clear instructions. Hose fittings are brass, not plastic like they are on cheaper pumps. It worked very well. I didn't actually measure the gallons pumped per minute, but I'm confident it was close to the advertised rate. The water pressure was great too. Much more than the pressure from our well. The pressure is close to city water pressures. I like that it has its own primer port, sensibly located on the top of the pump housing. Many other models don't have a separate primer port and require you to prime through the inlet or outlet port. It's a little pricey, but I've bought (and returned) cheaper pumps. This one is worth the extra cost. I expect to have it for years to come.
