Great game!
I grew up playing Dynasty Warrior 2 on the PS2 and became a loyal fan ever since. There are so many modes to play the game but my favorite is always the classic story mode. For first-timers, this is a fun destress game but it requires multitask ability in a very, very fast pace (moving around the battlefield as condition changes while trying to protect your general from being killed). Overall, love this game!

Great, fun, and not so hard game
I like the game, I have played it on PS2 and PS3. I purchased this one because I found it at a fair price and I truly enjoy the game.

Fun at first, but after a while it gets boring.
Pros: Comes with all the expansions of Dynasty Warrior 8. Just like any prior Dynasty Warriors its fun to smash, slice, and fight your ways through large crowded enemies. Weapons can be customized by their attributes and that can make your attacks more flashier or stronger. The game can be played in Co-op mode or 2 players. Which is good for when friends come over and they want to just slice and slash with fancy lights and colors on the screen. Challenge mode is fun too if you get boring with the story mode. In challenge mode you can choose a character and basically use the character to fight through battles consecutively until you lose (either die or run out of time). Winning battles give you fame, resources, or new allies. Each new ally is a character you can use to fight in Challenge mode. Also in this mode you can customize your weapons that can be used in story mode. The characters in challenge mode have levels and 150 is the highest they can go. Also the place you go back when you lose or die, you can upgrade the place with new buildings after achieving a certain level of fame and allies. You then use your facility materials to upgrade the buildings to allow new features or items to be available. Cons: Can get boring after a while. Doing the same thing over and over again can get repetitive so after a while it won't be so fun. The AI are also not that bright sometimes. A lot of times you see small pockets of enemies stuck in corners of the map or Ally AIs not doing anything. Ally AIs aren't even that great in fighting the other AIs have to go in there and clean up the enemies for them. The challenge mode is cool and gives a little RPG element to it in developing the character you like best. However it is kind of limited, with the buildings and upgrades. The buildings are fixated and you don't have a choice on which building is available. Conclusion: Fun for awhile because you get to be OP (over powered) at a certain point and just destroy everybody, but after a while it gets boring because the challenge of the game is gone. However, doing co-op with all the OP stats/equips with friends every now and then can be fun.

NOT the Dynasty Warriors 8 "Complete" Edition!
I watched Throthgar play DW8 Empires on YT and wanted to try it. I bought this "Complete" Edition of DW8 only to find out it does NOT have the Empires Mode. I guess when it says "Dynasty Warriors 8 Complete Edition" on the box, I thought I was getting all the modes and DLC and what not. That's not how it works. This is a different game. It's a very good game and I've had a lot of fun with it (this is my first DW game) but now I've gotta spend another 45 bucks if I want to play Empires. Ugh.

the best version in the series
by expanding the list of characters and modes of play, this version became even more immersive than before. a real challenge, despite its hack and slash nature. this is how dynasty warriors should be.

Strategy
If you like going around and destroying things, this game is for you. Also, it has a nice build your own empire mode that is very cool.

Ehhhh....
Let me say outright that I have been playing Dynasty Warriors games since Dynasty Warriors 3. I've played DW3, DW4, DW5, DW6, and DW7. I've played SW1 and SW4. I have to say I skipped DW8 on last gen consoles altogether. The last DW game I played was DW7. If you want the short version of this review: Skip this game in favor for Samurai Warriors 4. It is, by far, the superior game. DW8 XL has very hard to swallow visuals, some of the most depthless gameplay yet and the narrative relies heavily on these translucent maps of China coupled with voiceless text. However, it does have some of the best cutscenes, leveling system and a large amount of content. If you already played SW4 or maybe even DW7 this game is going to feel like a downgrade compared to those titles. If you want any elboration on what I'm talking about: GRAPHICS I have to say that this game's visuals mostly underwhelms me. Even for a Dynasty Warriors game, even IF this was last gen, it doesn't look good often. The game comes with a default depth of field graphics effect which just looks awful and hampers the already laughable draw distance. You can turn it off but the lack of texture detail still shows and bear in mind even if we were on PS3 as opposed to PS4 this is rough. The game looks rough at every point besides musou activations and in game cutscenes. It's also like they didn't even want to take the time to make skies in any of the levels. Like every single battle during the Three Kingdoms was fought with completely muddied out and filtered skies. It's not unbearable for me, but for alot of people this game is going go look pretty rough on the PS4. GAMEPLAY The gameplay is pretty lackluster for a Dyntasy Warriors game. If you're blocking, there's no way to counter/parry attacks with switching weapons. You also can't roll away which drives me nuts. Also, after playing Samurai Warriors 4 the game just feels slower without being able to dash around thousands of enemies with hyper attacks. The most you can do is recover if you're knocked back in the air, block and switch weapons. You can't lock on(you never could in a DW's game) but that renders strafing completey pointless. The HUD in this game is just a little bloated, the map in the top right is huge, it doesn't actually fit into the corner and is pretty intrusive. All of that being said, this is still my favorite leveling system's in a Dynasty Warrior's game yet, each lev a character earns levels up every character in their faction. For example, leveling up Zhao Yun would mean everyone in Shu gains a level. STORY The narrative is kind of hit and miss, you spend alot of time looking at a map of China with voiceless subtitles. However, the cutscenes in between are some of the most rich and eventfseries yet. If you want a ton of content and have your expectations curbed for what I described above, then by all means, purchase this game. If you have a PS4 and want a Hack and Slash game I would recommend Samurai Warriors 4, it has better graphics, soundtrack, better narrative, and more gameplay depth in regards to mechanics and overall fun factor. Samurai Warriors 4 is the best game Koei has ever made whereas Dynasty Warriors 8 is one of the most bland. If you already have SW4 this game feels like a downgrade, but if you're a longtime fan and your expectations are curbed you shouldn't be too disappointed.

All Stars for this SELLER' product and AMAZON's delivery
Ordered it to be delivered internationally to Australia. When I bought ordered it I was told it would be delivered Feb 13 or 14th but it arrived surprisingly early on Feb 9th. Came in brand new with seal unbroken. The game itself is in English and can be played in all regions according to the back of game case. But the game works and gameplay is good. This was a great purchase. Thank you to Seller and Amazon for fashionable delivery time. 👍👍👍 dated: Feb 9, 2020

picture not accurate
Everything was good no damage to item shipping was fast BUT the version they give you is the greatest hits version with the red case probably not a deal breaker for most it's the exact same game as the regular version anyways but for some this may matter haven't played the game yet so can't comment on that
