So I had to get over putting a magnet on the back of my case, didn't want to at first. However, it stays on great and since attached to the case there are no issues when I remove from the case. The neck is strong and stays in position even with the phone weight. I'm so happy with it now and since the magnet is already installed, I bought a second one and will purchase a third shortly.

I was a little worried if this would work with my phone and my car CD player. It works perfect with both. My phone is an LG X Venture which has a textured hard rubber back. The metal plate sticks fine. I put the smaller plate on at first just to see how well it adheres. It was tough to get off but did not damage the back of the phone. I am using the bigger plate for permanent use. It comes with a piece of plastic to put between the phone and the plate but I did not use it because the plastic piece would not have as good of a hold with my phone type. I put the plate directly on my phone. The plate is very thin and is not bothersome. My car is a 2017 Altima with factory CD player. I tested it with a CD in the player and the inserts of the unit do not go in far enough to bother the functions of the CD player but it goes in far enough for a firm hold & did not fall out when hitting bumps. CD's will still play while the unit is in place. Just don't eject the CD while it is in place (and yes my son almost did hit the button) :-) Perfect placement so it does not block the view out of the windshield but high enough to keep your eyes on the road without blocking AC vents. The unit will not work for all CD players. The directions recommend not using it if your CD player has a removable face plate.

I really like this style of mount and it works FAILRY good supporting an iPhone 6. Installed metal plate in-between a LifeProof FRE case and the back of the phone and this is a really nice and seamless setup. Does not add any real noticeable weight to my phone and its great to just slap the phone up on the mount. People always ask me how the phone automatically stays adhered to the mount. Only drawback with this set-up is the magnet power is weak with the metal plate inside the Lifeproof case. I wonder if it would work better if the metal was adhered to the back of the case but didn't want anything showing on the back of the phone that way. Really wish the magnet was allot more powerful - it needs to be and should be. Sometime the phone will tilt to one side if i make fast turns or when the car goes over large bumps or jostles around too much. I see that Scosche has upgraded some of their other mounts indicating in the descriptions that they now come with More Powerful magnets - wish this unit did, as that this can be a real pain sometimes. They apparently knew this was an issue with the original magnet-to-metal design they implemented on their initial product releases. This style of mount was the only one I was interested in so had to go with the current unit as is...having the mount for placement in the CD port is the absolute perfect place for my phone in my car ('15 Subaru Forrester).

This is another of thousands of mounts for you car so that you can keep track of Google Maps while on the move. This mount mounts itself to your car through the car's CD/DVD slot. This is great for older cars, but new cars with no CD drive or very thin slots it may not be compatible. In addition. the way the mount holds itself in place is that it has a set of "wings" that open up inside the CD slot to add more tension and create a stronger mount. I am skeptical though as I fear that this could damage the internal read heads of your CD player, if you do plan on eventually using it again. I suggest not to over tighten it to prevent this damage from occurring. Your mount uses neodymium magnets and a metal backplate attached to the phone to mount your phone. The magnets are decent quality, but be careful as if you remove the rubber sleeve around the mount then it may be difficult to reattach. I'm using the Samsung Galaxy Note 9 with the Otterbox Symmetry case and the magnetic force is strong. Even the biggest of potholes don't knock my phone off the mount. However, you will have to find a way to mount the metal plate to your device. In the box it includes 3M adhesive directly on the metal plate which is nice. However, I am skeptical of practically gluing a metal plate to my $1000 device. You can place the plate between your phone and case (if you have one), but depending on the thickness of said case, the magnetic force holding it up will be reduced. I ended up placing the adhesive on the outside of my case, which saves the phone, but makes using my phone in general a little awkward. The downside to all magnet-based mounting mechanisms is that you are not able to use wireless charging (if your phone supports it), as the metal plate gets in the way of the copper charging coil. This mount is no different. So you will have to decide if this trade-off is worth it. Otherwise I would suggest getting a clamp-based mount. Overall, despite all the general downsides of using magnet-mounting systems, this one is a pretty good implementation of it. Using the CD drive that is normally not used anymore is a good idea, and as long as you are careful you shouldn't damage the CD drive internals. The magnetic connection is strong overall, and it has been serving me well for the past 10 months.

This mount has been extremely useful in my vehicle. My CD player is right on the dash in a convenient spot to mount a device. This mount comes with the smaller metal plates made for cell phones and smaller devices. The large plate that is included with this mount works great on the back of my Samsung galaxy Tab. The 3M adhesive on these plates works fantastically. I have tried re-using these plates but I found that getting the plate off tends to bend it--even slightly. Once you bend these plates it does not re-use well. Included in the mount set, is a thin piece of plastic film that you can apply to your device in between the device and the plate. This makes it a lot easier to remove the plate from the device. This does a good job at making the re-use better. The smaller plate works great on the back of my phones. I also use the plates inside of a phone case and they work great. The magnetic mount holds strong to phones and even tablets. I stuck the plate to the center of my tablet and I can stick the tablet onto the mount and utilize it without it falling off. The product I got was the rearview mount for the phone. The setup is quite simple as the only parts this involves are the brackets that hook over the rearview mirror (this includes a short goose-neck connected to the magnet with a ball joint) and a couple of metal plates (one small and one a little larger) to attach to the phone. You hook the holder over the rearview mirror, then attach the metal plate to the phone and stick the phone onto the holder. In theory, this should be pretty much all there is to it, and the concept is great and admirable. The execution, however, is far from satisfactory. The phone mount has two adjustments: one for the top to bottom height of the hook that goes over the mirror (to accommodate mirrors that that are taller or shorter), and one for front to back (to accommodate mirrors of different thicknesses). The top to bottom adjustment is governed by a lever that you use to loosen the two claws that grasp the mirror, then you clamp them securely over the mirror and then push the lever to the locked position. This then prevents the mirror height adjustment from being disturbed. Unfortunately, there is no such hard lock for the mirror thickness adjustment. It is just a a ratcheted slide that seems secure initially. However, every time I try to take my phone off the mount, the magnetic hold is so strong that there is no way to prevent the phone mount from being disturbed. And this ratcheted slide is the first thing that gives. Almost invariably, this results in the mirror thickness adjustment coming loose, and I have to spend the next 30 seconds securing the phone mount to the mirror once again by adjusting the ratchets. Otherwise, the phone mount will fall off the mirror the next time you put your phone in it. Even worse, sometimes, the mirror itself changes positions as you try to juggle with the phone, the mount and everything else as you are trying to take the phone out of the mount. The idea is good, but the execution is fatally flawed. If the mirror thickness adjustment had been designed with another lever that does not allow the clamps to move freely without releasing it, things would have been great. As such, because of the hassles involved in keeping this mount secure (it is like I have to reinstall the mount every time after I take the phone from it), I will be returning this item. The search for a usable rearview mount continues.

The mount grips the mirror (top-to-bottom) adequately, but the mechanism that keeps the mount tight to the mirror (front-to-back) tends to loosen too easily. Easily fixed with a couple of bits of strong adhesive tape to stop the mounts from moving after being positioned. The magnetic mount is more than adequate, but vibration would loosen the little, old phone I'm using without the additional support from the tape. Maybe a small design change (better quality ratchet) could eliminate that potential for loosening. It works pretty well with that small modification, so reasonable value.

Works better than any other clamp, stick, suction, glue product so far. Can easily set the phone out of the way enough to see existing screens in your car. You haven't used your CD player in 10 years, don't lie to yourself. This is the best car mount for mid-teens Sedans and Wagons. Get it Dad!
