Homax Drywall Tape and Mud Dispenser Tool, Silver and Black

I recommend this to anyone who needs to tape a whole room or 2 but not for regular use. This was smaller than expected but works well, seems to do about 25 ft of tape before needing to refill. If you need to use regularly buy a larger one with a cutter instead, worth their price in time and effort saved. I disliked how the tape exit is hard to clean, but overall satisfied with performance for the price.

Not to bad to clean easy to learn to use saved alot of time.

This works well if the mud is mixed a little on the thin side. It has held up for a couple months of almost daily use. Well made although the plastic part is a little thin.

As a diy-er this banjo made my setting sheetrock tape go 5x faster! Make sure you have the mud very wet and set the knob to 3 or 4. Sure it is messy but does a great job. Keep scissors with you to cut the tape off and have a strong arm to hold this thing. When you get the hang of it the job will really go much faster.

I'm not an expert drywall finisher by any means. I don't like it but it's something I have to do on occasion. I used this because I had 30' seems to do on a ceiling and wanted it to come out with little trouble. I managed to do three 30' long seams and butt joints, on both ceilings and walls. I had a few bubbles, not many. But I'll chalk that up to being a newbie with the banjo. One thing to know is don't let the mud sit in the banjo during use. If you run out, make sure it's completely empty before adding more mud by emptying the remains. What happens is mud can build up behind the tape and sets up. Keep it clean and you'll have no problems at all.

I'm an experienced amateur and have done quite a lot of hanging drywall but not much finishing. This was my first experience with a banjo taper and after some trial and error this thing was a great timesaver. My two tips-- first, thin your mud! Mix the mud with some water to get an even consistency like pudding. If it's too thick you won't be able to pull the tape out. Second is pretty obvious, but just clean your tools carefully. The plastic is actually pretty easy to clean even when the mud is dry, but it's still a whole lot easier if you clean the tool immediately after you're finished.

This thing is a piece of junk. Do not buy not worth it to tape doesn’t pull out easy enough so all it does is make a big mess and rip the tape.

this thing will save you so much time taping drywall. Be sure to thin your mud otherwise the tape will be too hard to pull through.

As a Long time professional drywaller, I bought this as a giggle. It is wonderful for DIYers, but it’s small capacity and lightweight plastic makes it unlikely to stand up on the professional job site. That said, it works wonderfully. Yes, mix the mud thin, (like cake batter) and be ready to refill often, but it really is a timesaver. Also, says on box “not intended for fiber” tape, but I have run many rolls of “fibafuse” through it with amazing results. Great product. Buy it.

Been using this model of banjo for years now. I’m a professional taper so I’d say I go through one every 2-3 years . It’s cheap and reliable . It also come with an extra dial because if it falls on its nose , the mud adaptor pushes back and breaks the mud adjustment dial. Also by experience , they should make the tape holder a bit wider and longer because new 500’ tape rolls tend to fall off the banjo using your right hand while spreading the tape. Just don’t drop it off a staircase or scissor lift because it’ll be wrecked.
