Little skeptical at first, some practice required, but wonderful tool
I was a little skeptical but hopeful when I ordered the Chasing Dory. It took some time learning to operate it smoothly and how to orient its position, but by the third time, I was able to control it intuitively. In the 3 dives so far, I've used the Dory from the shoreline on Lake Arrowhead and in the Newport Beach ocean harbor -- from calm waters to moderate chop in a 4 knot northeast wind. It's generally easy to control from my phone even without the remote you can buy as an add on. The app is simple to use and the controls are very effective. From it you can easily calibrate Dory's internal sensors and take data on water temperature/depth. Control becomes more difficult as the wave conditions get rougher, but that's to be expected and would be true for any tethered rov (which they all are). The three vertical motors go a long way towards making this little submarine more stable than it otherwise would be. The WiFi signal stretches out 50 feet, so along with the tether, you have up to 100 feet of movement in the horizontal plane, and 50 feet of vertical travel. This has been more than enough to see all sort of things from the shore and would be awesome from a boat. That said, 50 feet is the vertical limit, so if you want to go deeper another choice would be best.

Terrible to control.
This thing is terrible. I use underwater ROV’s all the time in my job. This thing is cheap. Doesn’t respond to controls. And because it’s always got its thrusters on it stirs up sediment and batteries drain quickly.

The drone does a great job
This underwater drone is a real gem for anyone looking to explore the depths of the ocean or lake, and capture mesmerizing underwater moments. Equipped with 1080P full HD capabilities, this underwater drone delivers impressive clarity and detail in its footage, making it a perfect tool for photography enthusiasts. One of the standout features is the intuitive smartphone app that enables seamless remote control. Effortlessly navigate the drone through the depths, all while enjoying real-time observation on your smartphone screen. The experience of witnessing underwater wonders firsthand from the comfort of dry land is nothing short of captivating. The durability and safety features of this drone offer peace of mind during underwater adventures, its sturdy build ensures that it can withstand moderate water pressure. While the battery life is impressive overall, I really like the backpack, it makes everything easy to pack and carry around. Overall, the underwater drone is a powerful underwater photography companion that delivers on its promises. This drone opens up a world of possibilities for exploring and documenting the wonders. With exceptional video quality, easy app control, and reliable Bluetooth connectivity, it is a really valuable addition.

Poor quality control
instruction manual leaves a lot to be desired. Attached drone, says connected, get good video signal but controls on the remote don't work and no controls appear on iphone. Emailed tech support twice, no response yet will post fu review if they respond

Good
Had a little difficulty getting started, as all the videos are 4-5 yrs old and don't go into detail. Finally figured out to turn on Airplane mode. I also noticed a tear in my backpack, they are replacing it. Over all it is a good product, they just need to be more helpful on how to get started.
