Basic is best.
Many years ago rods of this design were included in the box when a pistol was purchased, now it would seem that it would be just too expensive for the manufacturers to do this. Rods like this are nearly perfect for maintaining a pistol barrel.

It's a cleaning rod.
It is a sturdy brass cleaning rod for pistol or most revolvers. I first purchased it to knock out a well stuck squib load. I thought it was going to be used only for that. However, it's still going strong after being hit with a mallet a few times.

Well made in USA
I got this primarily for a 22-250 with a 26" barrel. 44 inches is the right length. It does a good job. It seems odd to me that it has a male end thread (standard 8 X 32 as I recall) when most have a female end but it comes with a brass adapter for male to female - hence 4 stars instead of 5. Most jags and mops have a males thread so the rod needs a female thread. Its well made in the USA. It was shipped loose in the box and it arrived OK but it would be better in the plastic tube like those in the stores.

good solid, basic rod.
I used the cut off (threaded end) to to make a shot gun chamber cleaning brush for my daughter's gun cart to keep the SG dumping M/T's during our Cowboy shoot'n matches. End was attached to a piece of deer antler for a handle.

Everything you need, nothing you donโt.
This is what is called a cleaning rod and patch loop. It does just that without fanfare and related expense. You will lose it before it breaks or wears out.
