A Poison Ivy keeper
This was just plain awesome. Finally, Poison Ivy gets some real treatment of her character. None of the clichéd crap or two dimensional version of her that so many writers throw at us. Here, she feels like a real person--we get to see her loneliness and isolation from humanity--even her family and friends, her desire to change the world for the better through her work, and her hope to basically get a second chance at her life. With her humor, intelligence, workaholic tendencies, and villainess edging throughout. The writing does the exact right balance of telling us what we need to know without bogging down--and the excellent choices in panels gives us all the inferences, reminders, and expansions we need to really get full enjoyment of the story. And it is a superb plot--neat, tight, and solid. Dialogue sounds right for each character--and all the interactions and relationships come off right. And that lovely cover you see? At last the inside is just as lovely. Beautiful graphics. Which makes for a comic not only worth buying, but of keeping. Can't wait to get the rest of the set as they come out--if they keep the same quality writing and drawing, they will be an excellent run of one of our favorite villainesses.

Just like I imagined it would be!
Finally!I have been begging for a Poison Ivy solo title for so long because she has so much potential for a story! For the past couple of years, I have been fantasizing about Poison Ivy toying with hybrids to create more beings like her.She was a passionate scientist before she became an eco-terrorist, so I'm glad she's going back to her old roots!Very excited to see what's next.

Poison Ivy seemed to have found contentment. And then...
A few weeks ago, I was reading a comic and saw an ad for a 6 issue Poison Ivy mini-series. Elsewhere here, I have reviewed graphic novels featuring her, so obviously I was excited. I read the first issue today and I thought that the crew working on this got the series off to a strong start. Ivy seems happy to have settled down, devoting herself to plant research. Of course, this means that her contentment is about to get jolted. Best friend Harley Quinn stops by, but the two have words and Harley leaves quite upset. Ivy tries to convince herself all she needs are her plants, only to admit at the end of her monologue that, deep down, she is a very lonely person. As issue 1 ends, Ivy finds herself confronted by a death that suspiciously looks like something she might have done. Cycle of Life and Death has the potential to be an excellent series. The art and story are both strong and letting Ivy narrate part of the way was a good touch. There have been a couple other comics in which she narrated, proving to be both strong in her convictions and utterly self-serving.
