Nature's Answer Alcohol-Free Sambucus Black Elder Berry Extract, 8-Fluid Ounces

Typically this is sold in a much smaller bottle so when I saw the larger size I was happy knowing I won't have to reorder so quickly. This is a high quality concentrate that doesn't have any sweeteners which most of the others on the market do. It also does not have artificial anything, very basic, the concentrate. I use it on a regular basis and haven't been sick in the longest time. I don't take a flu shot in the winter and haven't been sick yet. I can't say it is because of the concentrate but I believe it adds to the total regime that I am on. The claim for the product is, boost immune system. I cannot speak specifically to this since I haven't performed any scientific tests myself other than reading around. My thought is it can't hurt, I am 60 years old, extremely athletic (mountain biking) and am never sick so maybe it is helping. Product showed up timely and was packaged well. I will continue to purchase this product from this vendor through Amazon.

I have been taking this for many years. As soon as cold season is in and I feel that tickle in my throat - one tablespoon undiluted stops the virus in its tracks. When my kids take it, it usually reduces their symptoms by a day or so. Now, it is sweet but thick. I usually keeps my stored in the fridge. This is a worthy and must have product.

I love this stuff. Generally my sinuses are a pain around this time of year but since I have been using Black Elderberry syrup I have not had any problems with blocked nasal passages. I keep this on hand when I run out of my homemade black elderberry syrup. This has a great taste and the expiration on the (unopened) packages are 09/16. I try to keep plenty of this on-hand because it's better to have it and not need it then to need it and not have it. I always keep the opened bottle stored in the fridge. I don't use it during the entire year. I always start around September because that's the time I always experience problems with my sinuses. This has been my routine for the last two years. I buy the dried black elderberries and store them in the freezer until September, then I make my own and when those run out I buy this brand and use it until the end of December.

This is the best liquid elderberry! I keep this as apart of my cold season arsenal! Using over 15yrs.! I’m a use natural & herb person whenever possible. Great for immune support, pulls out phlegm & taste good! Works quickly especially at the onset!

Exceptional product. We have been using Natures Answer Sambucus for many years. The only negative comment is the cap and seal. A Poor Design. We have had bottles shipped that had leaked into the bubble wrap damaging the label and others that have leaked onto the packing material.

This is one of those things where I really can't say for sure how well it works, but it's fairly cheap and it's probably not going to make things worse. (I say I can't say for sure how well it works because although elderberry has been proven to inhibit the influenza virus, it has not yet been successfully proven that it inhibits other viruses. It certainly might, but to my knowledge, we don't have any studies to back that supposition up. Also, this isn't regulated the way a drug would be, so we have to take it on faith that the syrup really does contain elderberries in the concentration listed on the label. And finally, even if it does work, you can't know whether (a) it worked because of the berries or the placebo effect, or (b) how much worse your viral infection would have been had you not been taking the syrup.) I had read one thing online that suggests elderberry syrup outperforms Tamiflu, which gives me hope because it's cheaper, you don't need a prescription, and it's safer. Well, it's safer if it's properly prepared; other parts of the plant that produces elderberries are poisonous. So efficacy is up in the air...but there's enough promise that I, personally, feel it's worth the cash to take a chance that it'll help. Really, the only thing about this syrup that I can review with any confidence is the taste...which is fine. Some reviewers don't seem to like it, and that's to be expected, but I was pleasantly surprised. Honestly, the syrup is pretty bland. It tastes mildly of berries - neither tart nor sweet - and reminds me a bit of prune juice. (It's better than prune juice, however.) I've been drinking a teaspoon at a time mixed with a tablespoon or two of water. I have no urge to guzzle the stuff, but it's really not bad at all.

Modern medication, especially over-the-counter medication, is not always most concerned with treating the root cause of the illness unless it proves a commercially viable. The antiviral properties may apply to other kinds of virus as well, but the research isn't available. I've taken it for 6 months, occasionally (say 2-3 times / week) and more often when I feel run down or people around me are sick. I haven't had a cold or flu in all this time, until two days ago, when I came down hard with a head-cold / fever after working 24-days straight. I dosed up and after a rough night and sleeping in all morning, my symptoms were much lighter, the following morning all but gone. I'm reordering, and will update as I go along.

This a must have in stock in our home at all times. Any time someone shows the first sign of a cold we start taking this daily. The one with the symptoms sometimes takes it 2x a day for couple days or if the cold takes hold every day our body is fighting it. It has helped boost our family's immune systems so well, that we encourage others to use it, too. Sometimes if we can get a good immune boost early enough, like at the first sniffle or cough or tingle in the throat, our body's have been able to do what they were designed to do and we got on with life. I also like that this brand does not have all the silly additives that so many others have. The tastes isn't delicious, there is no sugar. But it isn't terrible either. If you can drink cough syrup or liquid medicine then this will be a breeze. We add the proper dosage amount to one of those little medicine cups you would take cough syrup or any liquid medication and then add water. That makes it even easier and more likely get the full dose too.
